My sister has always been heavier than I am (right now, I weigh 214lbs and she was always about 20lbs more than I). Well this afternoon she is having gastric bypass surgery. I would probably have it done as well, but we dont have any health insurance where she does. I have three questions, 1. Has anyone heard of any surgeries of this type going wrong? 2. How many people who have this surgery gain the weight back? And 3. Should I be feeling guilty because she will probably end up being smaller than I? Just a note, I do think I am because today I started a diet of 2 cans of slim fast a day, in between snack of grapes, drinking only water and will have a sensible meal (2/3 smaller portions). In your opinions, do you think I can make this work just as well as she can. What do you all think of my plan, will it work?

well, thing is, today i missed school because i came down with a cold, and for the past week or so, i've been having problems with speaking, my voice was really raspy and now today i cant speak; when i do its really difficult to.
i think i might have laryngitis, but if my voice is the same tomorrow, should i go to school or not?

How many people out there sneeze when they see a bright light? For instance: Moving from dark room to outside sunlight.

Or

Feeling a sneeze coming and looking at toward the sun or light buld to help it along. I hate cloudy days when this happens

I am a 17 year old girl, I have been physically and verbally abused my whole life.
Both of my parents are mentally ill, my father has a personality disorder and my mother has severe dysthymic disorder.
I have daily thoughts of suicide.
I used to see a therapist, but my father would always yell at me about how expensive it was, and that just made me feel even worse, so I stopped making appointments.
The only thing that keeps me alive is my love for my boyfriend and thoughts of the future I might someday have with him.
I don't feel like this is enough to keep me holding on.
How can I deal with these thoughts?
Are there any support groups that you can reccomend?

My mother appears to have Alzheimers as her short term memory is almost nil and she is extremely irritable and shows all the symptoms of the disease. When she gets upset about nothing, how should I deal with the conflict as she has lost her ability to reason. Also, I cannot have her committed because I don't want to go into state/foster care. I am 17 and my sister is 15. At what point is it not worth it anymore?

This morning I woke up and noticed this and am kind of nervous...it's sort of puffy and its only on one side. It's not red, doesn't hurt, doesn't neccisarily itch, and its not sore when touched. It's just swollen up. I masturbated the night before but nothing else sexually and I'm circumsized.

I noticed other people posted questions like this but it seems like no one really had a direct answer (also couldn't find help elsewhere online). I'm going to wait a day and see if it goes back to normal but I'm at a loss here...please help!!

Are they reducing cholesterol? I know if you have too much you can gain weight but I am not fat so at the moment gaining weight is not my concern. My cholesterol is a little high but ratio is good so not a real concern. but still wanted to ask if the above items are good in general or for redcuing cholesterol or at least they will not increase my cholesterol(?) Okay here's the situation. It happened yesturday evening. I was sitting down on my couch, and all of a sudden I got this really heavy and uncomforitable feeling in my chest, I would say it was in my lower chest part. Anyway, I thought nothing of it at first, but I did tell my mother that my chest hurt! So I walked around a little then sat down agin because it was really uncomforitable. I can say it felt like someone was sitting on my chest. So, as the hour went on, I noticed it wasn't easing up and it kind of felt like it was getting worse, and then I felt like I couldn't breathe, but I think I was just starting to panic. Anyway my parents had the ambulance take me to the hospital, and they did an ekg, and blood work, took an x ray, and some other stuff, but everything came back fine. I just am not sure what it can be, I know I know, I have to go to my doc to follow up, I just want some input from others also. So if anyone knows something I don't know, please give me your input!

I have just found out that my father's (he wasn't around when I grew up) sister died from breast cancer and that his mother has also battled with it twice. Does this increase my risk of getting breast cancer or does it not matter as they are paternal relatives?
