I recently had some incisions made on my back by a doctor and was not prescribed any antibiotics. When I asked the nurse she said no antibiotics should be taken unless there is an infection present. .... Also about a year ago I had a tooth that cracked and had to be pulled the dentist did not prescribe any antibiotics because "there was no infection". I know some doctors that prescribe antibiotics at the drop of a hat and some dont. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME STUDIES THAT ARE PUBLISHED TO PROVE THAT ORAL ANTIBIOTICS ARE NOT NECESSARY TO PREVENT INFECTION?

Am I correct? Antibiotic resistance is from over pescribing in the community only, HOWEVER within the individual - over pescribing antibiotics will not cause any type of resistence for that particualr individual given they take full correct course?
What I am trying to get at, is if giving antibiotics to ppl with viruses (which obviously dont do anything) - may be worth it for the individual - as it would take care of the (potential)secondary bacterial infection quicker....

Hi all, I've just started on the SSRI anti-depressant 'Citalopram'. I took my first table last night and to be honest was a bit surprised that it hit me so quick. Today I feel a tad weird, spacey, a bit nauseaous and 'headachey' aswell, and my vision is a little disturbed, but only slightly.
I was wondering what to expect with this? Will these effects taper off in the next few days? Will these side effects increase as the medication kicks in for the next few days?
I would appreciate any responses, especially from those who've had experience of taking this A/D.

They like to bribe me with money. Like for dinner they gave me 300 bucks for eating 15 slices of pizza. Since this started i have gained weight. Now I am 5'5 and weigh 165 pounds, and i am only 12. My mom is such a good cook and i cant help myself, plus it is alot of money. What would you do.

Over the toilet after i went to the toilet
it was watery and dark brown and disgusting

I was wanting to know how many o fu knew what Bipolar was and if u knew someone close to u who has it and what u do for them to help them through there time of need . When I let my nails grow so that they are long...the top corners curve in for some reason...My whole nail doesn't just the sides soo it kind of looks like a triangle of some sort...Does anyone know what it does that? They really bother me...When I wet them they look straight..but they they are dry it curves back again!!

I used to have my ear pierced and the scar tissue is hurting in my ear!!??
it was a few years ago but it hurts wheni touch my ear lobe now. should i push an ear ring through it because it feels like i have some infectin i need to squeeze out?? dunno what to do but its getting annoying??

Ive been referred to the breast clinic at the hospital because of a re-occuring lump.
Can any one tell me what to expect? The doc mentioned a scan and possibly a biopsy.
Im 27 yrs old so never had a mamogram, is a scan the same thing? If not, is it like an xray, checking the rib cage too?

I had 2 shots of depoprovera injectables when i was 38 years old, and it caused my monthly period slowly stopped when i reach 41 years old. The doctor found 2 small functional cyst on my left and right ovary. My monthly period totally stopped. After 2 years, i was bleeding for 2 months and had DNC. I am 46 years old now. sometimes when i wipe it feels like the skin outside my anus gets scratched and bleeds a little, and it hurts pretty bad, and just today i went to the bathroom and i pooped some blood, althought im not sure why that was, is this Hemmrhoids or im just wiping too hard or something and is this dangerous/should be checked out imediately? (it has been happening for like months now and i only discovered what it might be)
