Yes it does. Heavier girls usually have more body fat. At 15% body fat you will begin to menstrate. Therefore, there is an affect on what age you would get your period.

Yes, when you are overweight your period will come faster (not the monthly 1, the first time it happens and it is announced you permanetly have your period) than when your are skinnier im pretty sure
its odd though, im almost 13 years old, im overweight and i kind of always have been chubby, never skinny mini. i dont have my period and probably wont have it till im 14, thats what happened with my sister.

it could do if you have a problem with your thyroid gland as this would affect the hormones as well.
i found that when i go over 11 and half stone my periods are very crampy and painful compared to when i am under this weight.

I was overweight, not really bad, but not skinny, and I didnt start till I was 16.
