When I go to health sites, like USDA.gov, and calculate how many calories I need, it says I need 1800 calories, even with the knowledge that I get less than 30 minutes of exercise a day in addition to my regular activities. If someone loses weight by burning more calories than they consume or maintains weight by burning the same amount they consume, how can I be expected to burn 1800 calories (at least) each day? Is this number the amount of calories I need to just LIVE healthfully each day or what?
