A friend of mine has Leukemia, and has no medical insurance to speak of. He is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant, and I would like to have a fund raiser for him, but really have no idea of how to start. Can anyone give me any ideas?

I hate it. It tastes like medicine, but I'm supposed to drink a glass every day for the health of my kidneys. Do the capsules or tablets do as much good?

Why is it that so many non-smokers (or ex-smokers) can get so worked up about second hand smoke? Doesn't anyone else seem to have a problem with the factories, oil refineries, dump trucks, garbage trucks, cars without mufflers, etc. that belch out thick, black, noxious fumes and smoke all day, every day? It just seems to me that so many people get really uptight when it comes to second hand smoke. (Obviously, this doesn't apply to people who live with a smoker and are around it all the time.) I'm referring mainly to people who stay away from places which allow smoking...basically people who just walk by someone smoking outside and freak out about it/fan the air and fake cough, making an *** of themselves.

Really...how often are you in an enclosed space with a smoker (or smokers) with no ventilation for long periods of time? Probably not often. How often do you breathe the exhaust-tainted air outside? I would guess every day!

I was in a chemist on the South Coast of Australia and I was sticky beaking in on a conversation. A lady said to a chemist speacialist there, "Yes but I have Yogurt everyday." To which I heard the chemist say, "Yes, but to be honest with you, for the Acidophilus in Yogurt to do anything for you, you would have to eat so much of it." I forget the figure of tubs that she said, but I do remember it was a ridiculous amount. So is this claim of high in Acidophilus just a way to sell a product as usuall or is what the chemist specialist said true? One of the other things I heard her say (I was in a rush so I didn't bother saying, "Hey lady, prove it!") was "There is such a minute amount of Acidophilus in Yogurt that it actually does nothing for you." Is this indeed true?
