You won't get "tonsillitis" any more but you can still get a sore throat "pharyngitis" which is just the general area behind your tongue.

1. Tonsils may not be totally removed.
2. Another part of the throat gets sore due to post nasal drip, allergies etc. (Pharyngitis)
3. The throat can get sore with strep throat or condtions liek that.
4. Tonsils can partilly regrow.

You can have a sore throat again, but chances are you won't get tonsillitis anymore, mainly because you have no tonsils anymore.

I got my tonsils removed a little over a year ago and since then I have not once had a sore throat, tonsillitis, or strep throat.

You can still get a sore throat. Tonsilitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, and if you get it often, doctors will recommend their removal. Sore tonsils should not be confused with a sore throat.

Of course, there is a ring of lymphoid tissue around the throat and into the nasopharynx to get infected.
