My daughter has been a vegetarian for over 4 years. She is the only one in the family that is. After a long day of Christmas shopping, we went through a Taco bell drive through. I ordered her a stuffed burrito, which I specified in detail. No meat!! Beans only because my daughter is a vegetarian. When I got my order I confirmed with them that it was a special order - no meat. They said yes. We got home & began to eat. About 4 bites into the burrito, my daughter jumps up & runs to the bathroom & starts puking. I ran in to check on her & she starts crying hysterically there was meat in her burrito. I told her to calm down, its no big deal, she'll be ok. But she was crying for hours, that I don't understand. She's right I don't understand. Now this a.m., she's still upset & cant eat. What can I do to help her. I'm at a loss here. Are there any other vegetarians out there that have had this happen? How did you get over it?

I understand you can take them even if you do not have any digestive problems, it's purpose is to give your body more enzymes because over time, your body produces less of them (due to all the digesting of cooked and processed foods) and the less you have the more your the health is affected. 1) Is it safe to take these enzymes? 2) Will the body start depending on them if you stop taking them? 3) What is your experience taking them? Thank you in advance.

Garlic...are they talking about the bulb that you buy in the store, or are they talking about one of those slivers that make up a part of the bulb that has it's own skin that you have to peel off? Embarrassing for a 48 year old to ask I know. Merry Christmas all.

I was reading in medical journal and it said a deoxyuridine suppression test showed B12 deficiency in a clinical study on vegans. I was shocked to say the least when I read this article. I wish there was a way I could scan and upload it to the internet to show you.

Here is an exact quote from the medical journal, "The most common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency is a vegan diet. A diet lacking in B12 causes tachycardia and heart murmurs."

I don't know about you, but this vegan diet sure seems kind of risky to me.

The girls in our local vegetarian society are all taken by omnivores. Oh and they whine about their boyfriends' eating habits. Geez, either you select a vegetarian boyfriend or you don't whine.

So anyway, back to the original Q, where can I find one?

Just wondering, how ethical it is to kill animals to satisfy our hunger and taste buds! Do we have the moral right to kill animals just because we are a superior race. Isn't it a selfish behaviour?

If this is not, why one human race establishing its superiority over others by decimating the latter would be considered unethical?

i need some suggestions for protein rich vegetarian food please, as an alternative to meat...

Most vegetarians don't eat meat because of the senseless act of killing innocent animals, but if pigs, cows, chickens could indeed talk and tell you that they wanted to be eaten, would this make it all right to eat them?

Most people who criticize vegetarianism do so because they've been brought up on a steady diet of
burgers
fries
mashed potatoes
turkey
gravy
steak
fried chicken

since childhood. American (European) culinary customs are the same as they were 500 years ago. The media encourages this as well. You never see ads for tofu or curry on Thanksgiving. In the cold dark European winters, meat, cabbage and potatoes were the only foods available.
But old habits die hard. People visualize vegetarianism from their own narrow view of what vegetarian foods THEY ate - potatoes and salad, and therefore conclude it is unhealthy and tasteless.

Am I right?

How do we educate them that there is a world outside these food items?
