Food & Drink - 13 December 2007

Ok, I am not trying to be deceitful (well, not too much). I have my husband's holiday party to attend Saturday and all the women are expected to bake a great dessert. I have cancer and I have kept it hidden from all but our closest family and friends, but I don't have the energy to bake like I used to. Any tips on how to take a store bought or bakery cake or dessert and make it look not "too perfect" or any other ideas? Please, no sarcasm. This may sound old fashioned, but it is a military event and it is a stupid tradition at this party. Thanks.

Im making "sopa de conchitas" its mexican type of soup. It includes shell macaronies, a bit of tomatoe sauce, chicken broth, water, and a bit of semi-cooked minced onions.Oh ! and Horchata on the side to drink. Yummmmm!!!!

I am a 24 year old guy who just moved to a "different" part of the country. I am not a big drinker, only on the weekend really. Up until now I really only drink a couple American beers when I would go out to a sports bar like Buffalo Wild Wings. (Miller Lite, Bud Select, etc) But now that I live in a "ritzy" part of town and my new friends go to more "upscale" places and resturaunts. Last weekend I just let them order drinks for me. I had a couple "NewCastle" beers and some sambuka (what ever that is) Someone please help so I don't make an idiot of myself!!!!!!

I've recently become a vegetarian[within the past 3 months] and everyone keeps telling me i'm crazy and don't believe that i've been able to do so. I was talking about becoming a vegetarians months before i actually did, beacause i had to make sure my mom would still buy food that i would be able to eat. okay so im doing this whole 30 day veg. challange.. and its not as hard as it seems, i think after the thirty days ill go back to chicken and tuna but still cut out red meat
