I'd like to make them for my company Christmas luncheon, but any "hot" dish must be brought in a crock pot. Or, any other good suggestions for what to make - company is supplying meat.

Well, you can, but things in a slow cooker usually are cooked for a minimum of 4-6 hours, if you do sweet potatoes (whole) they'll be mush.....You might want to rethink this into a sweet potato casserole that is adaptable to a slow cooker....try the Food Network.com for some recipes that you might like.....Enjoy!!

the alluring difficulty approximately crock pots is they cook dinner at a low consistent temp. meaning that it could be finished in 6 hours - yet once you leave it on for 8 hours your dinner heavily isn't overdone. Canned yams are ok - yet verify to make advantageous that the canned yams have not got any further aspects like sugar or salt that should shrink to rubble your recipe. and that i might upload them interior the midsection of cooking or some hours earlier its finished so as that they dont get too delicate.

There are a lot of good crock pot sweet potato recipes, but why not prepare them ahead of time your favorite way, then just transfer them to the crock pot to reheat them?

Crock pot sweet potato recipes tend to be very wet, because the sweet potatoes don't dry out the way they would in an oven.

Of course you can... but why bother? Buy some Trappy's or Bruce's canned yams. Add some brown sugar and if needed a bit of water and warm them in the crock pot.

make them how you usually do, then transfer them over to the crock pot before you go...thats what i would do ...the only tricky part is the keeping the browned marshmellows on top (if you use them)

do not make them the way the person suggested right above me...that sounds disgusting...it will not be a hit at the office

Yes, it can be cooked in crock pot, just boil water, with dash of salt(prefer kosher salt), till the sweet stuff is covered. Heat it for 1hr on medium heat prior to your meeting. Dump the water, drive to your place and voila.
