ok so i'm a broke college student and bought nice christmas baskets and wuld like to fill them with cookies or something. Theyre for my b/f's parents his aunt and uncle, and his friends parents, and probably my own parents as well....

but i dont have a lot of money and thought buying nice baskets with putting like some assorted home made goodies would be nice.

BUT...

i need some original home made recipes for cookies or just ANYTHING!! please help!!

I know at least one woman who does not believe anyone is telling her the truth when they say that her steaks don't magically appear in a package at the grocery or that they ever came from a live animal. They just happen to share the same name. She's not young either which is scary. Is she the only one out there like that or are there other people like her? First time she mentioned that though, I didn't believe that she actually believed any of it to be true but she does.

so i have to do a venezuelan recipe for my spanish class over the weekend, and i found one, but i need some help with it. i dont understand what some of it means. i looked up what some of it could mean, cant find anything though. im making something called 'apple cake,' and i dont understand some of the directions.
heres the basic recipe:

1- peel apples, chop in half and boil with 3cps of water, cloves smell and 1 cup sugar. (cloves smell? whats that?!)
2- remove apples when they are cooked syrup and reduce by half. put aside.(does that mean cooked into a syrup? what does it mean reduce by half?)


4-place dough into mold enmantecado and place the halves on top of apples(i thought the halfs were the apples?). bringing the oven hot for 20 minutes (is the cake in? what temperature??), remove, place half the syrup and bake for 10 min. remove from oven and put up remaining syrup

please help me out if you have any thoughts as to what could possible answer my questions. thanks

I am taking a poll here since there are so many variations of this. So:

Cream of Mushroom soup or Cream of Chicken soup?

Milk or sour cream?

Cheddar cheese or not?

Frozen french cut green beans or canned?

The only thing I find consistent is the french fried onions that top this dish. What do you all think? Inlaws don't like water chestnuts or almonds so I'll have to leave those out.

when i make fried chicken it always tends to get burnt on the outside and the inside is still raw as hell......does anyone know how to make fried chicken to the point that the inside cooks more then the outside........thanks...Sighs*

My son, age 11, seriously decided to become a vegetarian this year. He's been OK for a few months now, but lately he's been feeling like it's so hard and getting discouraged about his strength to keep resisting. I can't help him because I have no interest in becoming vegetarian.

Does anyone have any advice for him to "hang in there"? He keeps thinking about all of the foods he enjoyed that he can no longer have (Orange Chicken from Panda Express, Popcorn Shrimp, Fish Sticks, etc) but he is really against harm to animals. He's getting really down about it. I completely support him and tell him that he can do it, but as an omnivore I'm not really effective.

My boyfriend is making potato salad for christmas and i'm trying to do as much prep work the day before as I can. Can I peel all the potato's the day before? How can I store it? we have two brands, this one im sure is crap- wearever, but
we also have farberware and its the same problem. the one
