I am taking a poll here since there are so many variations of this. So:

Cream of Mushroom soup or Cream of Chicken soup?

Milk or sour cream?

Cheddar cheese or not?

Frozen french cut green beans or canned?

The only thing I find consistent is the french fried onions that top this dish. What do you all think? Inlaws don't like water chestnuts or almonds so I'll have to leave those out.

Thanks in advance!

Try it with fresh, raw broccoli, pour your soup mixture over, carmelized onion is a nice addition mixed in as is a dash of good Sherry. Top with Sharp Cheddar, bread crumbs and or french fried onions, optional. Bake as usual.

Otherwise, I prefer frozen french cut, cheddar cheese, both in the mix and on top, sour cream and/or heavy cream, and as always real butter.

have fun! When do we eat?

cream of mushroom soup mixed in with the french fried onions on top and warmed ... green bean cassarole. :) Always a huge hit with my kids and hubby!
