I was just curious if they named the pasta noodle after something, or just came up with the word out of the blue.
And if it does mean something, then what does it mean?

I know some people who say they don't normally eat meat, but they would eat it if that was the only choice at a BBQ or something. Are they still considered vegetarians? Can you really say "I'm only 80% vegetarian"? Or either you are a vegetarian or you aren't?

The hormel dried beef in a glass jar is supposed to be refrigerated after opening. I've had this jar for at least a month probably two months (opened, in the fridge). My boyfriend's mom keeps hers for quite a while (she does not believe in food poisoning)...however, i read that dried beef should be used within a week or so. I suppose this is right, but with all the preservatives...isn't it like beef jerky? I want to make chipped beef with it.....

I have tried many times to become a vegan, I am already a vegetarian. My family and friends are constantly trying to tempt me to eat foods with milk/egg products, although I try to refuse it is difficult. Any suggestions as to what I can do to make it not so difficult? My family doesn't want me to become a vegan so they don't support me in any way. What should I do?

No matter what I do, my steaks always come out dry. I love to eat rib-eye steak and I like they well-done. Some one told me to sear them on both sides to seal in the juices and cover my pan with aluminum foil. But they don't come out as tender and juicy as I would like them. Any Ideas on what I should do?

I was at an asian restaurant and I asked the waiter if she was chines or japanese and she made a face and walked off. The next thing I know, we had a different waitress. Is it rude to ask asians if they are chinese or japanese?

I'm watching GOOD EATS and Alton Brown says that the San Fransisco sourdough yeast can be found wild in the Bay Area . Is this true? Can one collect wild SF yeast as far south as San Jose?

Where can I find good quality cocoa powder in Los Angeles, CA..
Would a supermarket have it or should I look for it elsewhere?

What are some good brands that taste good that I should look for. I'm looking for something sweet, not bitter or tart.

FYI..I will be making "Brigadeiro" a Brazilian dessert whose recipe calls for a few tablespoons of cocoa powder.

or if the meds contained animal by products because he/she felt the meds were immoral?
What prompted this question, you may wonder? Well, groups in Wash. state are stating that the new law requiring pharmacies to sell Plan B is wrong, and the ones that don't want to carry Plan B say it is against their morals/religion. I am just wondering what people think of this and other things that could cause a pharmacist to deny medications, and if the pharmacists should have a right to allow their morals to interfere with their job. In all honesty, I just don't get why someone with moral/religious objections to medical procedures or medicines would even go into the medical field as a doctor or a pharmacist, but that's just me(if you can't tell, I think that a pharmacist or a doctor shouldn't be allowed to let their morals/religion interfere with the job they chose to go into knowing they would be faced with things that go against their morals/religion, they have an obligation, IMHO).
