My understanding is that if meat has gone off it will make you bad (i,e give you food poisoning)! But apparently bringing foods to boiling point or a higher temperature if frying, kills all bacteria and harmful germs! Then in theory(i would'nt ever try it by the way) if i was to cook a piece of rancid meat or fish untill it was very well done and very hot would it still make me ill!
