Rabbi's Cabbage (so called because I learned it from a friend who was an Auschwitz survivor and became a rabbi; he probably wouldn't forgive me for saying that it goes very well with bacon or ham, but actually it's delicious on its own - much more than the recipe would suggest).

All you need is a firm cabbage and some tagliatelle (fresah for preference) - you want to finish up with roughly equal volumes of cabbage and pasta, but this is an intuitive's recipe:

Cut the cabbage into thin slices, sprinkle with salt and leave for an hour. (Don't know why this makes a difference but it does). Then rinse off the salt.

Set one pot of water boiling to cook the tagliatelle. In another pan, stir-fry the cabbage - you don't need any fat, and usually the water left over from the rinsing will be enough. Cabbage should still be crunchy.

When they're both cooked, mix them together and add some black pepper ... that's it. (If you can spare the calories, eat with crusty garlic bread).

I have no idea why this is so delicious - something to do with the contrast in textures; all I know is that the first time the family tried it they asked for it three nights running, all on its own. Leaves you enough calorie-room to serve fresh fruit afterwards.

Try grilling raw chicken breast tenders with some kind of seasoning (ie. Mrs Dash & salt & pepper, little olive oil maybe some red wine vinegar marinade for a half hour). For your side boil some cauliflower and mash it up with a little butter (about a teaspoon) and salt & pepper. It tastes like mashed potatoes but less carbs & fat

Oatmeal topped with brown sugar with a dollop of vanilla yogurt on top.

Baked chicken breast with veggies and a potato or rice.

A turkey burger with lettuce tomato and mayo with veggies on the side and some baked chips.

Pasta with sauce with any vegetable added (ie cooked spinach, mushrooms, broccolli, etc.)

Tortellini cooked in chicken broth with celery and carrots and a can of tomatos if you wish.

A peanut butter and banana sandwich on whole grain bread.
Fruit.

Or baked chicken, brown rice, and veggie. Im having this with spinach, but its good with french cut string beans also.
