I'm cooking for a guy for the first time this weekend :) We're both vegetarian (and I'm also trying to slowly eliminate dairy - my plan is to go vegan by my birthday later this year). Sadly, I'm not that good at cooking - any ideas???

It is pork chops with apples and sauerkraut made in the crock pot. Some recipes have potatoes, I could or could not add them still.

This may be a really stupid question, but I made chili for dinner and it's been cooking all day. As it's cooked down it seems to be getting spicier! I like it but I don't think my kids will be able to eat it. Is there a way to get rid of some of the hotness for them?

I think soul food has the best desserts. Peach cobbler, and sweet potato pie, with a side of ice cream is like Heaven in a bowl! American desserts are good, to like cheesecake, icecream, chocolate chip cookies, etc, but I gotta go with the soul food!

let's get one thing straight -- i do not intend to spend more than five bucks on making my hooch.

i dump a can o frozen concentrate into an empty milk jug, add a pack o yeast and a couple of cups of sugar and let it hang out in my closet for a couple of weeks.

is there any other cheapskate method anyone knows of that is superior to this?

also, am i gambling with botulism?

I am looking for a recipe for an English dish to make and share at a Cub Scout meeting. We are doing a heritage theme, and I have ansetors from Englad but don't have any idea what to make. I would like it to be some authentic and different than something we might have in America. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
