Actually there are some good benefits of drinking coffee but only in moderation of course.
I would wait until you are about 18 to start drinking it though because you should already have enough energy being a young teenager. Also its better to let your body fully develop before you start adding stuff like alcohol and coffee.
Stick to hot coca or a less harsh black tea like chai.

It isn't good for you, but neither is soft drinks, so I think that everyone has a different opinion for this question. My grandma used to give me coffee and toast when I was little, but my mom never gave it to me. I'm 23 now, and I love it. However, I am not addicted to it like some people. I don't need it in the morning or when I am tired. I just like the way it taste.

Well I personally started drinking coffee in college I think at 18-19 years old. It helped me stay focuses i the morning and evening classes.. After a while I sort of grew to like it.
Of course it tastes terrible without sugar=)

Sounds like your trying to be an adult. Don't. Coffee is an acquired taste, which mean you have to drink it several times in order to start liking it. I was given coffee to drink by my grandmother, I didn't like it at first but I felt like I was being treated like a grown up, so I drank it.
Unfortunately cigarettes were the same, Most adults I knew growing up were smokers. So it was natural to want to be like them. In fact you could smoke in hospitals, airplanes, and there were no such thing as non-smoking areas.
Just be yourself, and be careful with the choices you make. The choices you make now can affect the rest of your life.

My great grandmother gave me coffee with a biscuit in it when I was about 2 weeks old. She said I was hungry and that's all she had in the house at the time. Been drinking it as long as I can remember and it doesn't seem to have harmed me. So I say, drink it whenever you want to.

Why bother starting. Stick with tea. It's healthier and has more nutritional properties. Coffee isn't reallt something you just...start drinking. If I had to give a number I'd say 15-16 yrs old.
