Something that doesn't melt, and something like mix nuts or anything good. It's A big basket , and I need to fill it up.

loads of fresh funky fruit [like star fruit] and other wacky types, put loads of bunches of grapes and a couple of bottles of wine, some nice cheese and oat biscuits.. voila! instant pressie that he needs to share with you!

make his favourite sandwiches use a heart cake cutter and cut his sandwiches into heart shapes takes a little longer but looks good. jellies you will find lots of romantic stuff around for valentins day only you know what he likes.

Heart shaped 'red' sugar cookies.
Heart shaped red/pink/white candies.
Valentines M&M's.
You can buy a heart shaped bread mold -- make different flavored loaves -- banana bread, zucchini bread, cinnamon bread, etc.
Go look in the valentines candy isle -- LOTS of unique things.

you could bake a cake cut in into the shape of a heart two layers I am sure tht will be good.

dip the nuts in chocolate and then do candy bars and write notes on each one..
like notes that are related to the candy name.

Here is something easy I made for my co-workers one VDay and everyone went nuts.

I just took a package of Duncan Hines family style brownies, and stirred in an entire package of Hershey's Raspberry Flavored chocolate chips, and made the brownies according to package instructions.

I cooled them and froze them for just a little while, then cut them into small squares and placed them in valentine cupcake papers. Then I sprinkled powder sugar on them.

They were very good but I kind of felt embarrassed how easy it was, with the way they were going on and on...of course I told them they were scratch- he he

Very inexpensive and tasted awesome. BTW freezing first guarantees you a nice straight edge when you cut.
