Brandy is a strong alcoholic liquor made from distilled wine. It's used in baking cakes and cookies, as well as in flambe.

I like brandy, but it's not for the faint-hearted if you drink it straight. Mix it with milk and Creme de Cacao= Brandy Alexander.

Brandy is a type of alcohol.

Congacs like Hennessey, Remy Martin, Martel etc are also considered brandy, just from the Cognac region.
