I am making mashed potatoes and we don't have any potatoes in the house. Instead of buying a huge bag, I only want to buy the amount I need (unless it turns out to be more expensive). The recipe calls for two pounds of potatoes. Does anyone know approximately how many potatoes that is?

I'm about to make some sushi. I've made it before but haven't used any of the vinegars I listed in the question. I keep reading about using rice vinegar, sushi vinegar, etc. My questions are:
1. Is rice vinegar and rice wine vinegar the same thing or different?
2. Is rice (wine or not) vinegar and sushi vinegar the same thing or not?

whenever my mom makes coconut cupcakes, they always get stuck on the baking cups. they get stuck on the paper ones, and then get burned and stuck on the foil ones.
she tried spraying them with baking spray in the paper cups but they stick got stuck.

what can she do so they wont get stuck?

My 12 year old daughter and I are vegetarian. We do not eat wheat, soy or egg, due to severe allergies. My daughter has friends over alot, and I am running out of ideas of what to feed her friends. I do not want to purchase commercial, chemical laden stuff. Not only do I not want to be exposed to it, but I wont support companies that are making unhealthy foods. Obviously, her friends are meat and toxic food eaters. We never mention anything about our ideas, but I know the kids are getting tired of eating the same few things. They love when I do a spagetti fondue, but I have done that to death, as well as pizza. I need ideas where I can stick to my beliefs, but still give the kids something where they dont feel deprived. So many kids these days dont know the goodness of a veggie. I served a veggi tray with dip at a recent slumber party, and two of the girls asked me what a baby carrot was!! They tried them and loved them! shocking! ideas please?

What I do is usually blow alot of colorful balloons, not too whack but matching and with streamers and curly ribbon from the balloons, maybe banners on the wall "happy birthday". I have plastic thing over my table, i sometimes get white or a color of table clothe/towel and put confetti under the see through table cloth .. i put up the streamers diagonally, zigzag, or just make a X in the dining area and i tape balloons on the wall and filled ballons with helium for the ceiling. i also serve, chips, pop, ice cream, cookies, etc as lil snacks. and that cake when they blow out candels.. for meal part potatoe salad, lasagna, pasta salad, caesar salad, garden salad, chinese rice, chicken balls, ribbs with honey sauce or something, oh and i usually keep movies in tv room and game rooms ps2, xbox, computer room and music going in the dining area, living room... is there anything i can change or add?
