I am from US and living in a metric country. The butter here is not wrapped in those packages that have the tbs graduation marks.. but I have a scale that I can measure the grams needed for my recipe.
Any help??
I actually like the metric better, wish I would have paid more attention in the 70's when the US schools wanted us to switch!
thanks
K

I just started to be a vegetarian, but my parents don't seem to understand. Each time I go see them they've made roast beef or lamb chops... I tryed to expain my reasons for choosing this, but they look like it's unbelievable or ridiculous each time I try to explain it to them.

There is a big move towards organic fruit and veg in the UK. Does it actually taste better - or is it a fad based on making people feel better about environmental issues ?

I am looking for a recipe my parents used to make me as a child ... I keep finding similiar recipes but I am a horrible cook, so I am trying to find the exact recipe.

I know my mom cooked a whole chicken in a crockpot first for several hours. Later the chicken was taken out and shredded and put back in, peas were the only vegetable. Salt and Pepper the only spices I remember ... It made a nice thick chicken broth with peas. We had it served over biscuits.

I remember it having very few ingredients, the mains ones being the chicken, peas, and biscuits.

Thanks for the help!

Using a paring-knife, cutting towards the body. (I know you are supposed to 'cut' away from the body, for safety sake, but the method back then was to peel towards the body). Please tell me how it is done & done efficiently.

I left some freshly cooked chicken out last night and put it in the fridge this morning. It must have been out for about 11 hours. Is it still safe to eat?

I kept some Sainsburys puddings (CHristmas puds to be exact) in the boot of my car to keep cool. There shelf life does not run out till 2008. However, with the cold spell I am worried they may have frozen during recent nights, probably defrosting during the day. FIt for consumption?
