Because it is actually made of meat and not offal.
Seriously though egg, bacon and leftover eyeballs, sinew, pig face etc. all mashed up with pink dye and put into stomach lining.

An old proverb says "Never watch law or sausages being made."
Bacon has to come from a specific part of the pig, an area of the animal called the "pork belly".
Sausage can come from the shoulder meat or other, cheaper cuts and may even be mixed with fatty bits that are trimmed away from other cuts.
Since all sausage makers are Not bidding against each other for the same exact pieces of meat, the are free to "bargain shop" a bit.

They're both bad for you but sausage is really, really, really bad to eat. It's full of fat and is a major artery clogger. My grandmother ate it a lot and she had so many heart problems when she was alive...blocked arteries, heart attacks, etc.
Bacon is sooooo good to taste but pork, in general is just bad for you. It's fat and salty. It's considered unclean in some religions. It also makes your blood pressure rise. Everything in moderation is okay...Anyway, bacon's more expensive because it's better for you and it's more popular, probably...in higher demand.

Due to health issues, the market demand for bacon is less than the market demand for sausage, thus bacon suppliers marked up the bacon in order to cut losses.

because it takes longer to produce, it is only made from one cut and type of meat, and it has more involved packaging.
sausage is made like a hotdog. take everything left over, grind it into a paste with some fat, add some spices, and squeeze it into a case.
