I kept some Sainsburys puddings (CHristmas puds to be exact) in the boot of my car to keep cool. There shelf life does not run out till 2008. However, with the cold spell I am worried they may have frozen during recent nights, probably defrosting during the day. FIt for consumption?

They are definitely OK. Even if they have been frozen.
Anything that contains glucose or sugar of any sort can be deep frozen. Brought out - defrosted - half eaten and then put back into deep freeze again for another time. Its the sugar contact that stops it deteriorating and allows it to be frozen & defrosted many times.

Normally I would say "No I wouldn't risk it", if you think they got really hot and sweaty during day then froze at night, and this went on for several days I would still say it is risky.

If you are so short of food or money to buy more or you don't
want to waste - if it looks and smells ok just eat a couple of desert spoonfuls wait 3-4 hours see if you get griping pains or the runs, you will be able to make up your own mind then.

I would say so, but you really don't need to store them somewhere cold because puddings like that can be stored at room temperature. Put them in the kitchen then you won't have to worry about them freezing and defrosting because while this won't make them unsafe to eat it might affect the quality.

I should think they will be pretty safe. The alcohol content helps and there isn't much in there that could do you harm. I doubt they froze through anyway.

you should make sure that they are thoroughily cooked beofre eating, and if have any doubts dont eat them

i wouldnt risk it. they've been warming up by day breading bacteria
