hey there I use to work at KFC a while back and we made the cole slaw Fresh daily so are you ready heres the recipie:
Shredded cabbage (green) about 4 cups or buy the ready to use at the market.
1 cup of mayonaise full fat no low fat mayo.
1/4 cup white vinegar
White sugar to taste
Few drops of green food coloring(I'm not joking)
Mix mayo vinegar sugar and food coloring together to make a dressing. Taste and Adjust sweetness if it is too sour because of the vinegar. Add to cabbage and let sit in the fridge for 20-30 mins. I believe this is what you'll remember as the good coleslaw that they use to have . Give it a try

My guess is that they changed the recipe to one that uses a cole slaw dressing that doesn't have "trans fats"...such as hydrogenated plant oils.
These fats make food taste delicious but have become the target (enemy?) of the medical world and even some governments. They been banned in New York City.
They are very popular in most "good tasting" processed foods, but large chains such as KFC and McDonald's have been pressured into not using these fats any more. I think McDonald's French Fries taste terrible compared to the original recipe.

years ago KFC chicken use to be a lot better.. and their chips.. so its all gone a bit down hill. I remember being a young kid (im 24 now) and my dad would come home with a family bucket every now and then and the chicken was so tasty and not greasy at all.. its not the same any more. I went to Australia a few years ago and KFC was way better over there too!

Probably something to do with the Food Nazi's getting some ingredient banned.
That + I believe P.E.T.A have been working on becoming shareholders so they can have an influence on financial decisions, drive up costs for them, etc.

People buy baked beans from the Colonel? how FU is that?
The reason that it is sludge is because the 11 secret herbs and spices are rubbish..
There is no secret over 10% of the product is salt.
How come in an era when food labelling is compulsory is KFC exempt from disclosing its recipe ...and losers still stuff it in thier faces with this poison?.
You are what you eat ...sludgeys!
