Most manufacturers recommend against it, but mostly because the slightest human error can be devistating. The enamel covered cast iron is 100% perfectly safe as long as your grip doesn't slip and you drop it even an inch to the cooktop. I own 3 different brands of enameled cast iron and all 3 came with a pamphlet which stated the product was glasstop safe.

As long as you don't have butterfingers, go ahead....but I do agree with the above answerer who said that regular, uncoated cast iron is not a good idea.

Yes, cast iron does great in the oven

no i have cast iron i had to buy the other kind to replace the top is at least 250 dollars !! it is not made for heavy pan's etc...

you can scratch the surface badly and they will not heat evenly because the bottom of cast iron is not flat.
