It's been years since I had smelts and just came across some in the grocery store that are now defrosting in my fridge.

From what I remember...you cut the head off below the gills, remove the fin and slit the underside of the belly and remove the guts????
Am I missing anything?

I was planning on tossing them in flour and a little salt and fast frying in peanut oil.

I've been working different types of vegetarian foods into my children's diets slowly each day for the last week. I've replaced ground hamburger in spaghetti with Morning Star Meal Starters crumbles, replaced bacon with veggie bacon strips, etc.

The children are 12, 8, and 4 years old.

Does anyone know a good way to do this without causing conflict with each child as it if different with each different age group......

As I stand my ground and want these children to adapt to healthier eating habits and choices.

There are vegans and vegetarians. But are there such extreme and strictest vegans that don't respect people who are meat-eaters? In other words, having hatred against non-vegans. Or the dislike to make friends who are meat-eaters.

I have two small children so my crock pot is my friend. I am looking for yummy new crock pot recipes. Here is one of my favorites from Paula Deen. What is your favorite?
Pot Roast
1 (3-pound) boneless chuck roast
1 1/2 teaspoons House seasoning, recipe follows
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
3 bay leaves
3 or 4 beef bouillon cubes, crushed
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup Chardonnay

Sprinkle roast on all sides with house seasoning. Using a skillet over high heat, sear roast until brown in oil. Place roast in a slow cooker, and layer onions, bay leaves, crushed bouillon cubes, garlic, and cream of mushroom soup. Add the Chardonnay and cover with enough water to cover all of the ingredients. Cook on the low setting for 8 hours.

House Seasoning:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder

I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has.

The marinade contains olive oil, lemon juice, spices, onion, garlic and a wee bit too much salt.

I am supposed to marinade it overnight, but I have just tasted a piece of it and was too salty. What can I do to save the rest?

I really like those fancy liners, but they're expensive! Couldn't I just use foil or something else to achieve the same results? Any suggestions?

We are a retail store and due to Christmas being our busiest time, we are now planning our 'Christmas' party. Budget $1400. Tried bowling but unavailable on a Sunday evening (this is the only time our store is closed so that everyone can attend). Thanks, in advance, for your ideas.

Bottle of Jim Beam? I know alot of stores don't carry the "green label" Beam, but I really like it more than I do the 7 year old or the 8 year old.

Have any of you tried it?

One is the original deep circle type and the other is more shallow and ovel in shape I suppose for larger portions. I have the first one and I was wondering if anyone else has the same kind and could you share some of your favorite recipes.
