One is the original deep circle type and the other is more shallow and ovel in shape I suppose for larger portions. I have the first one and I was wondering if anyone else has the same kind and could you share some of your favorite recipes.

I don't thin that you need different recipes for different crock pots
it is just a size difference
I have the smaller one but I would love to get a larger one that has a pot you can use on burners to brown meat.

My favourite summer recipe (yes it is winter but it is good to be prepared) for crock pots is to:
put sliced onion on the bottom,
top with chicken pieces and seasoning (pepper, bay leaf, cayenne)
top with water
cook on low for 5 hours (I have left it 9 before)
You now have cooked chicken that can go right on the bbq.

I hate cooking chicken on the bbq because to get the inside cooked you need to burn the outside.
But now I can get home through them on the grill with some bbq sauce and they are delicious and fast. (And don't heat up your house in summer.)
:)

I have an old crock pot (from the 60's) that Im happy to be rid of! I got a new oval shaped one, 5 1/2 qts. I can fit 2 whole chickens in it! Ive been making chickens and soup since christmas!

Here is a recipe for cheezy potatos-awesome side dish, great for a buffet, pot luck, party, or just to eat! The recipe is low(er) fat than my original and just as good!

Cheezy Potatoes – Lower Fat/Vegetarian Version

Serves about 15-20

2 bags of frozen has browns-southern style potatoes.
Follow instructions on the bag and cook, set aside in large mixing bowl

Cheesy sauce

2 cans 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup for non-vegetarain-way more flavorful)
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 16 oz tub lite sour cream
1, 4oz can diced jalapenos
1, 4oz can diced green chilies
2 cups fat free grated cheddar cheese
1 cup Italian blend grated cheese (there is a blend/mix bag at the store in the cheese section)

Combine all of the above in a large pot and cook on low until cheese is melted. Pour over the potatoes and mix together in the bowl. Fit as much as you can in the crock pot (the smaller ones wont hold the entire recipe-you can easily cut this recipe in half to serve less or make it all fit-or you can cook it in the oven, save it in the fridge...).

Put potato and cheese mixture into crock pot, heat on high, stirring occasionally. When hot, (could be 3-4 hours) turn down to low to keep warm.

I have a round one, plus a "slow cooker" which is basically a pan that sits on a hot-plate type base.
My favorite stew:
1- 2# beef roast, cubed; 1 large can Tomato juice; one envelope onion soup mix; 3 large carrots-peeled & cut in chunks; 4 large potatoes-peeled & cut in chunks.
Place everything in the pot and cook on high 6 hours or low 10 hours. You can add a can of peas just before serving if you like.

My kids used to beg for this meal--serve it with crusty french bread !
