I am an American getting married to a German man this summer in Las Vegas. We do not want any presents because we would have to ship them overseas to Germany where we will be living-this costs so much!
How do we tell the invitees this, and what are different options for them if they insist on giving us a gift? Is it wrong to have them help monetarily with the honeymoon?
I know that if they insist on giving us a present I will happily accept it and we will ship it, but I think it would help so much for different ideas.

I am helping a friend plan a wedding. Included in the ceremony will be a family unity ceremony. Any suggestions on where to search for a nice poem or short essay that talks about the meaning of family?

I am getting married. I am going with the colors of off white and dark red for my bridemaids and flowers. I have a few dresses picked out at a local bridal shop, but we can't decide on one. I like them all. I don't want the dresses to get too pricey. Maybe under 200 would be good. I need advice on any particular designers or favorites you ladies might know of. I want the dresses to be floorlength and strapless. If it's a two piece and they can pick out their own tops it would be okay. I don't think I'd want the tops and bottoms to be different colors though. I either want them to be a light beige color or a dark red almost burgundy looking. If the dresses have a sash that would be great. So if you know of any good designers or any favorites, please help. The wedding is in September!

Im tired of the usual lingerie, so I want some new ideas for gifts and new ideas for presenting it to her(gifts bags, ways of wrapping, etc.) Do you have any favorite things you have received?

I always thought that at the end of your wedding reception, you and your lovely new hubby left in a shower of confetti and didn't come back for a couple of weeks!
But the last few weddings I have been to, the couple stayed all night and then ate breakfast with everyone in the morning!
Which do you think is best?

I am getting married in September at Myrtle Beach. I have spent many vacations there, but it's hard trying to find honeymoon suites there.

I want to have as little stress as possible for my wedding (don't we all!?) And I want the bridesmaids to be able to choose a dress that they are comfortable with. So I am considering letting them choose the style as long as it's the exact same color. My two options are from David's Bridal. And I'm not sure if I will go with "Apple" red ot "Blue Velvet" (the color is blue velvet, but it's not actually velvet material). The dress prices start at $79.99 and go up from there. Any thoughts? I'm really thinking of doing a free-for-all. any style, length... just the exact same color. There are more options in the Apple Red. But I hear red is "overdone".

I'm thinking not the usual cowgirls, hippies or faries theme - I really want summat a bit different and unusual - but my imagination is not doing me justice. Something unique, so people will think 'Ooo that's a good idea!'

I'm getting married in August and plan to do something different with the flower girl. Rather than have her drop flower petals before everyone, I plan to have her walk first and give out long stems of flowers to people sitting in the aisle seats. So I'm trying to figure out what she can carry these flowers in, because the baskets made for long flowers is just too big for her.
She is 7 or 8 so she's grown a little... I was thinking of putting the flowers in something similar to a pocketbook but deeper -- a flower bag.
any ideas?

What sort of budget you set out for Wedding Stationery? What would you prefer individual customised, and handmade or printed from a printing company if costs were the same?

We are planning for a destination wedding in the Caribbean (the Dominican Republic). We plan to get married here civilly first and then have our religious ceremony there. Is this normal? I was told the paperwork would go much faster if we did it this way.
Advice, please!

A friend of mine is planning to ask me to be her wedding adviser. I'm not sure what all I would have to do if I were to say yes. And how would I tell her no if it's not something I want to try and do? I am a very busy person and I don't want to take on something I won't be able to commit to and handle. HELP!!
