I want to have as little stress as possible for my wedding (don't we all!?) And I want the bridesmaids to be able to choose a dress that they are comfortable with. So I am considering letting them choose the style as long as it's the exact same color. My two options are from David's Bridal. And I'm not sure if I will go with "Apple" red ot "Blue Velvet" (the color is blue velvet, but it's not actually velvet material). The dress prices start at $79.99 and go up from there. Any thoughts? I'm really thinking of doing a free-for-all. any style, length... just the exact same color. There are more options in the Apple Red. But I hear red is "overdone".

Oh, and I might be an oddball, but I REALLY don't care about all the details. I just want it to look nice and accomplish our goal of getting married. I actually hired someone to plan it for me so I don't have to stress about it.

YES YES YES. You're a beautiful, wonderful bride!!!
This is a great idea! Not only will you be skipping all the stress (and the bridesmaid's dresses cause a lot of stress), but you'll be making your maids very happy. They will be able to choose their own budgets and styles that flatter them. I love seeing some individuality in the bridesmaids!
You can go for the separates and pick the bottoms, and let them pick the tops. You can just pick a color and let them pick out whatever they want in that color, in either separates or full dresses (the separates are nice because the tops and bottoms can be different sizes). Any of this will work great.
And red is not overdone. I like the red, personally. It's a lot easier to find shoes to match red than it is the dark blue. Plus, the red is so much happier and cheerful. And red vests looks nicer with the tuxes than the blue. Go for the red.

I did the same thing, and my bridesmaids love me for it! They all have such different body types there was no way I was going to make everyone happy. I picked the color and length and asked them all to pick a dress they liked. The only thing I requested was that they all get the matching wrap for the ceremony. If you like red..get red! Who says it's overdone? You can always individualize the wedding with the decor/flowers. Your wedding will not look the same as anyone elses, so don't worry about it. Looks like you got a very good price on the dresses too. The only thing I wouldn't do is a "free for all." Give them SOME parameters to work with, It might look a little odd if some choose short skirts, and others go with a ballgown style.

I think its fine for the bridesmaid to pick their own dresses. As far as the color goes, pick your favorite of the two. If you like the red best, choose it.
It shouldn't matter how many weddings use red if you love it. Don't worry about overdone. As long as you love your wedding, it's all good!!

Frankly, I hate being imposed what to dress. Not so much the colour, but the line&cut are very personal. The best choice is to let them choose the dresses, maybe you can suggest a colour you'd prefer them to wear (I like ivory very much, for example). But if you don't want any stress, don't try to make them agree whether red is better than blue or viceversa :-) .
If they care about you, they will make nice choices and not embarass you. Or spend a fortune for them. So everybody feels good....
What you can do, to make they seem "co-ordinated", is make them wear a flower of the same species or similar scarves or other accessory..
...and congratulations!

I think that's a great idea. Not every girl looks good in the same type of dress. I've always been partial to David's Bridal dresses in Apple.

I like the idea - I've seen pics of bridesmaids wearing this idea, and it looks so good, because they can choose to match their body type - some went strapless, some had little jackets - but it all looked coordinated. Go with the blue.

I think its a good idea that way they can choose a dress that suits them, but they still have to be uniform in color. That way everyone will be happy because they have a say in the dress.
For mine I picked the dressses I liked best and had the girls vote on them.

I think it is appropriate and that you should use any color you like for your wedding! I am thinking about doing that same process for my bridesmaids, unfortunately DB does not have the dark purple color I want.

I don't feel that any color is "over done." It's more of which trends are popular right now. If you want the Apple Red then go for it.
