Have any of you called off your wedding days or weeks before or had it called off by their partner? What did the guests/relatives say and the ones who had flown from far afield? What was the outcome? Or did anyone only stay married for a few months? Just curious!

My boyfriend and I were invited to a wedding. He is in the Navy and wants to wear his uniform. Right now his command is still in the "summer whites", so the uniform in question would be his dress whites. I've always been told that you should never wear white to a wedding so as not to upstage the bride, but does this apply to men? Members of the military? What do other people think? Will he be thought rude?

I am getting married in August. I am planning on ordering my gown in March or April. When I go dress shopping, should all my bridesmaids come with to look for their dresses, or should I look for my dress first and they come with after I order mine (like for a fitting). I am having a hard time with this... just exactly when to do what. So any links to good site would be helpful, I joined theknot.com but its doesn't have an answer for this question.

My Fiance and I are inserting a card in our invites that needs to ask people to give us gift certificates or money b/c we are moving. I was thinking something along these lines:

"Although we are registered at Bed,Bath and Beyond do to the fact that we will be moving, Gift certificate or money would be greatly appreciated."

Please help, That cannot be the best way to word that.

I am getting married in June. I have been on a wedding diet and have lost some weight already and I am not sure what size of dress I should get. The size I wear now or the size I want to be on my wedding day? I'm not planning on losing a lot of weight. Just a few dress sizes.

I am originally from a country where bridesmaids literally seat and look pretty. They only have to spend on their own attire and reherse maybe once before the weeding. I assume it is different in the US. People seem to expect others to pay for their weeding. In Nicaragua if you get married the groom as a rule pays for everything traditionally and ideally. As a bridesmaid, I am expected to pay dues? Help pay for my friend's wedding? Help put together a bridal shower?
Before I say "I Do" to being a bridesmaid I want to know more or less what is expected of me -financially and time wise. -I don't even have time for my self with ft work and pt school

What would be the benefits on part of the bride and her parents in case the groom
is asked to leave his house and not the bride. That is:The groom settles
in the brides house and lives with his In -Laws.(Consider the case of
India where dowry deaths are so prominent). Please list all the benefits
in points separately.
