My husband and I are traveling to a my BIL wedding in Germany. We are paying for all the travel expances ourselves as well as paying for are own room and car rental.

We were married in the states and paid for out of town guests to attend. He attensded alone and did not give us a wedding gift (??)

My BIL is not paying for anything and we are paying out all this. I am thinking a $100.00 (euro) and calling it even.

What do you think?

I want to give him something nice when we're married but I can't decide what exactly... I know it's personal and all but I thought other people might have some nice suggestions or things they picked out that might help to guide my thought process...

I'm ordering my wedding cake in the next few days and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for it, general prices to expect, what kinds of cake and filling might be good.. etc.

I'm thinking of having the traditional 3 tiered type cake for just over 100 people or so... and each layer can be different (all with the same white icing of course..)

The icing types are buttercream and fondant (sp?)... Which tastes better?... I know which one looks better.. how much do you think that decision effects the pricing? etc...

Anyone have any good links to pictures of cakes that might look nice??.. or general wedding cake experience or advice..

What the nicest poliest way to tell people on the invites and should tell them earlier that children will not be invited to the wedding? We booked a great cater but they do not have a discount for children. We have 10 children we would have to invite- we couldn't invite one realtive and not another..... but at $70 a head, that's $700!!! I don't mind teenagers... at least they can eat an adult meal but I am talking if your over 1 year old they charge of an adult and we have 10 kids ranging from 2-6 in our family.
I don't mean to be cheap but we are trying to cut cost at every angle and even my FI thinks that paying that much for children is crazy...
What the politest way to let people know that their children are not invited?? I know that addressing the envlopes in the major key but I don't think that all people pay attention to that... and sometime throw out the envelope and then fill out the RSVP months later. So I wanted to put something on the RSVP card.
Thanks!!

I am 39 he is 47 we are having an informal reception in our back yard. Renting the tent, tables etc. Making it all very pretty. We are having a pig roast along with other things and the wedding cake. I am doing flowers on all the tables along with cameras for everyone to take pictures. Here is my question... I talked to my soon to be sister in law last night and she thought we were just going to do a simple cookout. I can cook out anytime i am only going to marry him once.. Is it silly for us to do it this way? We were both married before and have a 7 month old son.

how many of you want that their partners should be doing whatever u say or should move his toe only after u gave him the permission, and should always remain like a pet dog, on your beautiful feet, geting up only when u order.

Partner No. 3 wants to renew our vows, which as I recall were made one drunken night in Corfu when he said "If you ever leave me for another man, I'll kill him and then I'll kill you". I have suggested a civil wedding with different vows but he says it's Corfu or nothing.
