I have had a friend for almost 10 years and she has 3 little kids ages 3, 5, and 6. I have been in their lives since they were born and generally do things with them on average once a week since they were born. The problem is that I get sick pretty easy and catch anything in the air and the 3 kids are constantly sick with something. For example, they have had one month over the last year when they weren't sick. I fought off a cold that I got from them two weeks ago and now I am coming down again with something from seeing them yesterday. I am never around anyone else who is sick. What's worse is that mom gets mad at me if I act standoffish when I see them coughing and dripping. She never tells me if they are actively sick and I end up being miserable at work or have to miss work. Obviously if they were my kids, it wouldn't matter. But I also love the kids, they call me uncle and I am their godparent. They are also sweet, innocent kids. How would you handle the situation?

I have a friend who is from Russia who has a friend from India. Well anyway he and her chat all the time. She is having problems with her husband who is American. Well he had the nerve to tell me that her American friends would not understand her and that he would understand her better because he is not from the US. To me that sounded a little discriminating. I am an American woman and I felt quite offended. I feel that she needs to talk to an American to better understand the way her husband is thinking. To me a man will be a man no matter where he is from.

~Ways to become a better comforter to those in pain:

1) don't talk just for the sake of talking

2) don't sermonize by giving pat answers

3) don't accuse or criticize

4) put yourself in the other person's place

5) offer help and encouragement

The best comforters are those who know something about personal suffering.

At a local coffee bar, a young woman was expounding on her idea of the perfect mate to some of her friends.

"The man I marry must be a shining light amongst company. He must be musical. Tell jokes. Sing. Entertain. And stay home at night!"

A lady at a nearby table overheard this and spoke up, "Girl, if that's all you want, get a TV!"

My brother-in-law (he can not hear ) has to pay child support, but in the state of GA they are telling us he doesn't have any rights to see the child, because they we not married. The child lives in CA and the mother has dissappered but she is still getting $$. We are going to california (court , child support) and would love to see the child, he doesn't get to see her very often. Can any one out there give me some info? If you tell me to get a lawyer, they cost to much and he doesn't have it.

Example: Anyone 16-21 wanna chat?
And the someone answers: I am 18. But I dont wanna talk.
What the hell!!!
If you dont wanna talk then just dont answer. If you dont wanna talk then I dont give a damn what you have to say.

How can you let your child just scream and not try to comfort them? I would have done anything to stop my children from crying. They don't even pick them up or say whats wrong, NOTHING! I'm a very polite person but I find myself wanting to shake them and say take care of your child!! Is this just happening where I live[northern Illinois ]or has anyone else noticed this?

Most of my friends and I included are around the age of 20... Some of us are Virgins. My questions is that How much would you respect some one who decides to be a virgin till marriage? I am not asking about liking, marrying, or stuff like that. I am just asking about respect. Just don't give me a number. Please give me your personal opinions aswell.

A man leaves his wife ten days after major surgery. He leaves her alone to support herself and two children, ages 5 and 2. The wife is unable to lift the 2 year old, and is forced back to work 18 days after surgery, and almost four weeks earlier than her doctor would allow. She manages to do it all alone. A year later when she is laid off of work, she is forced to relocate to nearby state so family can help while she finds another job. The husband then decides she is unfit and TAKES the children. The judge later grants her custody. Years later. Husband has remarried and had a child with a new woman. They separate and he offers to give up the other two children if his current wife will consider reconciliation. She says no, but he still walks away from the children, even signing papers giving up custodial rights. Should this man be allowed to see the children that he effortlessly walked away from without so much as a goodbye?

I have been involved with my boyfriend for 5 years. It is a serious and committed relationship. There are kids from prior marriages involved. We live extremely close to one another. Because we both have kids, we are actively involved in their activities which at times detracts from the time my boyfriend and I can spend together. I received an email from my boyfriend stating he is "emotionally exhausted", is "frustrated with himself and me" and thinks "taking a break for a week would do us both good" and that he is not available this week...... I am very disappointed that this was communicated by email (though he claims he tried calling me...). I feel there is no excuse for not being able to speak to me in person about such a sensitive and personal topic. I am also confused because this past weekend was nothing different than many prior weekends filled with kids sports. My boyfriend and I were once engaged, but he backed out about 6 months ago. He helps me financially somewhat.
