I have had a friend for almost 10 years and she has 3 little kids ages 3, 5, and 6. I have been in their lives since they were born and generally do things with them on average once a week since they were born. The problem is that I get sick pretty easy and catch anything in the air and the 3 kids are constantly sick with something. For example, they have had one month over the last year when they weren't sick. I fought off a cold that I got from them two weeks ago and now I am coming down again with something from seeing them yesterday. I am never around anyone else who is sick. What's worse is that mom gets mad at me if I act standoffish when I see them coughing and dripping. She never tells me if they are actively sick and I end up being miserable at work or have to miss work. Obviously if they were my kids, it wouldn't matter. But I also love the kids, they call me uncle and I am their godparent. They are also sweet, innocent kids. How would you handle the situation?

sounds like the children just have allergies .It seems not worth it the same happen to me always taking my kids to the doctor because the other kids were sick that came over . I would just say your tierd and feeling sick and you would like to rest thenext time tell heryou would like to take the kids out for pizza just little things out to lunch the park that way you still see them and there not always over your house.give your house a good lysol spray and maybe just 2 weeks away from each other will help passing things around.then maybe bring up to her your sick alot and shouldnt be around the kids cause maybe your getting them sick from work catching something or just say maybe you think they have allergies you noticed they have runny noses and coughs alot.

I would make sure to wash my hands while they are around, like if you have touched things that they have. Keep tissue boxes around for runny noses. Use antibacterial wipes on stuff they have touched. Drs usually say if people would wash their hands more often there would be less illnesses like colds and flu. Also considering your susceptability to illness you should check with your dr if you should get a flu shot or be taking vitamins.
