Always. Shakespeare said it best: "To thine own self be true."

I'm going through the same thing. U have to be above the influence. Don't let "fitting in" control ur life! Be whoever u want to be. And if whoever u really are doesn't fit in, then who cares!? As long as u know ur doing the right thing and ur happy with urself, then ur good. All u need to do in life is be the best u can be. Make the right choices and be happy with urself. I know, I sound totally lame! But it's true. Think about it: When u do stuff that is not u, do u feel good after-wards? Probably not. Good Luck!! :) I'm here if u ever need any help. :)

I've never fit in and I come to realize that I am proud to be who I am. This is the best thing you can ever learn to do. Love yourself. Doesn't mean you have to run out and tell everyone every last detail of your past or present. Eventually, you will find someone who accepts you for who you are. Then you will fit in. If not, then at least you will fit in with your own self and that is better than being miserable trying to pretend to be what you are not. Secrets can be kept and still be happy, Protect yourself.

Would you prefer to be surrounded by people yet hallow inside, or happy and content with yourself and having people learn to and accept you for who you are?

As social beings, we're programmed to fit in. To want to be part of a pack. But as human beings, we're all diverse and unique. Do what makes you happy. Find out and accept yourself, and others will soon follow. Being untrue to yourself may cause you to lose yourself in the end.

From a person who knows exactly where you're coming from, I can honestly say that if you don't be yourself people will turn against you. I was doing the same thing you were when I was in high school and it seemed like people turned on me, set me up, and betrayed me for not wanting to be around people. I know that you are afraid to be yourself but it really pays off in the end. I'll be your friend because I like you already. Click on my picture or email me at mooksmooch@yahoo.com. If people really wanted you around them then they wouldn't ask you to change but for you to be genuinely happy. Honestly, I can't say people will want you to fit in by being who you are because it deals with the group you choose to hang around. You can fit in with me because as long as you let me be me, you are Always free to be you.

You seem to not be happy living the way you have been. Decide if you want to be true to yourself or if you want to fit in? Fitting in may not make you happy if you have to take on a personality that is not your own.

BE UR SELF! Who cares what people think of u, u will find someone to fit in with promise. I think everyone wants a friend that they can be themselves around. U can wait for that special someone who accepts u for u. I have the same problem. U can IM me anytime if u wanna talk or chat with someone who respects u for who u are.

All throughout history there have been "misfits" and "popular" people. The misfits are always smarter, more interesting, the ones everyone wants to be like, Leaders. Never change who you are to fit in. To fit in is to feel comfortable with ones self. If you know who you are, never stray due to "fads", follow your own path with confidences people will want to be near you. This is one of those lessons you learn in life, look back and go "man if I only knew then..."

Fitting in only lasts through High School, once you get into College and later on into the "Real World", all that doesn't matter anymore.

Sometimes I think getting older sucks, but then I remember peer pressure, etc...

My advice to you, Shrug all those yuck, yucks that pressure you, do your own thing, be 100% genuine to yourself and well, let's just say your later years will be FANTASTIC.

Never in your life, NEVER change your personality for the benefit of society's views. It's like trading your soul and being and everything you believed in for a pair of pink plastic empty glasses through which everything is perfect.
Eventually, try to introspect more to know your subconscious self but never change for "them..." Fitting in is like painting yourself gray amongst millions of gray amoebas just like you.

you have to be yourself. it is useless to act like your somebody your not. because if you arent happy then what is the point in fitting in? if you are yourself you will be happy and that is what is most important. it is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who your not. if your friends cant except who you are then they arent true frineds, and you will find so that do. pretending to do something your not is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. you have to be your self once you except who you are you will lead a happy healthy life.
