It seems like everytime I go to a store or supermarket there is a child screeming, thats not unusal but what is .....Parents who just stand there and look around like it's not happening!!! How can you let your child just scream and not try to comfort them? I would have done anything to stop my children from crying. They don't even pick them up or say whats wrong, NOTHING! I'm a very polite person but I find myself wanting to shake them and say take care of your child!! Is this just happening where I live[northern Illinois ]or has anyone else noticed this?

I'm sorry, but it is wrong. People go into a store to shop not listen to children cry, scream, or run up and down the isle. Im a parent with two boys, 7 and 2. My 7 yr old trys to run up and down the isle, but he gets stopped dead in his tracks, and is given an ultimatum, either he can act right, or he will go out to the car with dad and be grounded when he gets home. Now my 2 yr. old, i try to make sure he is clearly away from the isle, but sometimes I can't help it. If he does grab something, then it gets taken away, put back, and if he crys i try to sooth him, and if that don't work, then i will send him out to the car with his dad as well. Others just sit their and let their children scream and run and don't do ne thing about it, and it is frusterating to those of us who try to keep it undercontrol. My son has also fell and hurt himself a few times due to his clumslyness, but he also knows better. So I guess the answer to your question is yes it does happen everywhere, but their are those of us out here who try our best to respect other peoples shopping, etc. Some parents need to learn how to discipline their children too..... and that would fix things like that....
Hope it helped....

Having been the parent of the screaming child, it's simply because the only thing wrong with the child is he/she is not getting what they want. You say that you would have done anything to stop your child from crying. Does that include buying them $25 Barbie when they already have 10 identical ones? Or letting them get all the junkfood that they want? I'm sorry if you don't want to listen to my kids throw a fit, but I don't want them to grow up thinking that is how they get the things they want. I don't want my kids eating unhealty or thinking they get everything they want. So, personally, you can bite my a s s !!!

What you failed to see is that the parent WAS comforting the child, however the child is having a temper tantrum. The harried mother is doing her best to just get the damn chore of shopping done. Ignoring the action is an approved way to deal with it. I'm sorry you feel that all the air and sound waves around you belong to you, but you will have to learn to co-exsist with other humans if you wish to stay in that part of the country my dear queenie. It was good of you to restrain your pompus attitude...because that woman would have laid your airhead out right there at the store.

I have seen this too and i get so angry. It's bad enough that there are parents out there that just throw thier kids down and give them up but the ones that keep them and don't take care of them make me just as mad. Makes me want to go and pick the little one up and comfort them. I can't stand neglectful parents. I just cant.

The way stores are set up there is so much junk or displays in the isle ways that when a child grabs somthing he/she can't have the child is frustrated, plus lines have been backed up lately becase stores are always working on low staff.

it seems that parents don't care if their children are screaming. When my children were that age, I used to try to calm them down, I did not want my children to be unhappy and did not want to be inconsiderate to the people around me. Now days, nobody seems to be considerate, most people with small children are rude and careless, they let their kids play near escalators, let them wonder away and so on.

Hi, people let the kids cry for a reason, if you comfort and fall into what they are saying you spoil them. Or you have speak in a way of understanding for the kids, why not they are getting there way. But mainly it is that you are spoiling them its bad for them. Sure once in awhile, but when you are giving love through caressing.
