The agreement says that visitation will be agreed on by the
parents AND take place at MY residence one day a week.
It also says the wishes of kids will be taken into account.
Wife has used the latter to just put ALL the control in the
kids' hands; they of course don't want to be away from their
neighborhood and friends for even one day because they
know that would be disloyal to her. She is controlling them
without doing anything consciously, but it's a subtle way to
get around the agreement. I have always taken the high road
instead of threatening, etc. but my patience is wearing thin.
I would like to think the kids would eventually like to come to
my place one day a week, but I could wait forever and then I
would be even more alientated from them than since the
separation was signed. I have been visiting kids at THEIR
house on weekends for the last year; they have been used
to that and going to my house would be a slight change, as
I would bring them back Sunday.

I was just wondering how old a child had to be before they are allowed to choose who they want to live with? Or is it just pretty much the judge's decision no matter what?

Not a question, but a statement:
I seem to be seeing Q's about a lack of trust when the significant other hasnt done anything wrong, mostly from women. I have this to say:
Get some self esteem. You are wasting time worrying about "what if's". I spent yrs this way & realized that if he did decide to be unfaithful, he was gonna do it no matter what. You are only making yourself miserable for no reason. If you spend all your time worrying and being scared over what MIGHT happen, then living isnt gonna be much fun.
Enjoy what you have now. If something bad happens in the future, then deal with it. But dont waste time by worrying and contimplating the possibilities of your man being unfaithful. Its a stress you are only putting on yourself uselessly.

I have a friend who won't grant their spouse a divorce. I'm concerned that this will backfire then them and get ugly. I'm wondering if there is anyway that the spouse can go through the divorce even though it is not mutual. And if so-will it get ugly and hurtful? Thanks

My husband hasnt spent time with me since Tuesday and we both work a lot. I work 12 hr days and go to school. He is going away all weekend, he is gone already and not coming home until late tomorrow night. He is going to a concert with his dad. Then Monday I start all over with my long week. Well last night was our only night to hang out and he told me he was going over this guy's house from work to hang out. I know this guy-I work there PT too, and he did in fact go there. But I was soo hurt that I had been waiting all week to see him and knew I wasnt going to see him again for awhile and he didnt want to spend time with me. His birthday is less then 2 wks away and I have been planning such a nice getaway for us, and now I dont even want to do it. He doesnt understand why I am upset and thinks I am the one at fault!!

a wife is married to man that has 2 children and he has been married 3 times before. she gives him a chance, says yes to his proposal and now is in a rocky relationship. she feels she can tolerate alot of the problems he throws at her and prays for the marriage. she thinks if she sticks by him long enough things will get better as he is normally quick to leave (divorce). he's threatened to leave her several times and she was fine with it but he didn't. now she is trying to be a good wife and good person with a lot of patience. any suggestions, like wait on God, or does it sound like He's given her a few signs already? (she's believes that deep down he is a wonderful person and wants to give it every chance until she can't go on.)

after the husband told his wife he's unhappy about the pregnancy and not sure if he loves her anymore, she asked what he wanted to do about the relationship. Split before the baby comes, or after the baby is born. Why do you think he chose to wait until the baby is born?

Myself and my partner were going through a bad time. She's a devout Muslim (no sex before marriage) and i'd been celibate for 2 and a half years so i finished with her.

After finishing with her I realised that I loved her more than any other woman i've ever known. So when she flew from London to New York to get over us I followed her as a suprise and proposed infront of The Statue of Liberty. However she did not answer straight away and upon our return to London she proceeded to tell me "NO"! How do i get over this rejection as I feel like death itself.

We've been married for close to 19 yrs with 2 kids together. Been tolerating his verbal and emotional abuse. Found out his recent affairs for the past couple of years. Even during our reconciliation period for the past 4 months, I found condoms in his toiletry bag when he came back from his overseas assignment. Enough is enough. I cant tolerate the way he treats this marriage. Obviously, he prefers to have his cake and eat it too. I believe in monogomous marriage though.

However, I want us to part amicably (though it pains me to have to come to this stage) and not be bitter over our divorce. Till date, he refuses to accept that our marriage is over and threatens to give me hell if I proceed with the divorce.

So, I need sincere advice or suggestions on how to persuade him to agree on an amicable divorce so that we can move on with the way we want our lives to be.

I caught my wife of 8 years cheating. We are going to counseling and she says and acts like she loves me, she said she didn't want a divorce and that she cheated because she didn't think I liked her or was in love with her anymore. She was wrong, I still loved her. Although neither of us have been real happy the last few years, I hadn't giving up on us. I followed her out and caught her at his home. We had a long hard talk and she's sorry and loves me again. I do see and feel the changes in her, but I read the graphic emails between her and him. I cannot make love to her without visualizing her and him together. I am an emotional train wreck. I do love her but my ability to trust and believe her is gone. I actually want to catch her lying to me again, my therapist said thats just how my personality works. This happened a month ago. I am worried I cannot get beyond the pain. She holds me when I cry and says she's sorry. How do I move on from this and erase the visions in my head???

She called him yesterday to talk about the fact that his daughter's teacher is complaining about her behaviorial issues (which we knew where going to start happening based on the fact that her mother keeps denying him visitation and trying to make his life a living hell now that he is married). In the meantime because his mother is badmouthing me to her, she took great delight in dissing me to him for 30 minutes or whatnot and also bringing up other irrelevant information as well rather than talking about her daughter specifically and her needs. She also continues to say that I am too scared to meet her face to face and/or that I am jealous of her relationship with his mother. OF COURSE I am! That is supposed to be my mother in law and so I am hurt but that is not why I don't talk to her. It is because she is unreseasonable and is not thinking in her child's best interest by denying her father so much.

Is this considered harrassment? What can I do at this point?
