Myself and my partner were going through a bad time. She's a devout Muslim (no sex before marriage) and i'd been celibate for 2 and a half years so i finished with her.

After finishing with her I realised that I loved her more than any other woman i've ever known. So when she flew from London to New York to get over us I followed her as a suprise and proposed infront of The Statue of Liberty. However she did not answer straight away and upon our return to London she proceeded to tell me "NO"! How do i get over this rejection as I feel like death itself.

You misread the signs, obviously. What you say suggests that you don't feel as committed as she does, morally. That was probably one factor in her deciding to finish with you. Following her when she was trying to get over you was probably one of the stupidest things you could have done.

Your feelings are generated by your own inability to accept her decision - and therefore a lack of respect for her. The sooner you come to terms with YOURSELF and reality, the sooner you will get over it.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh and unfeeling. It happens to be the truth!

If she said "no", it means she does not want to marry you. Personally, anyone who would follow a woman "as a surprise" would spook the daylights out of most people.

You dumped her because you wanted sex? That was stupid. She probably realized you weren't serious enough or something.
A devout Muslim woman is probably one of the best women you can find.

Maybe she is still feeling hurt by you finshing with her and is trying to get over it.

If you can, try to stay friends and see if you can reconcile, but don't push her or put yourself out there too much.

If there's no hope then let things be and you will hopefully find someone someday. I know things may seem bleak now, but if you can get through this you will be a stronger person for it.

First things first: Find someone of your own faith. It just works much better. And now for the rest of the story: she said NO. Remember this: it takes two people to make a relationship but only one to end it. Let her go! Take time to mourn the loss of a failed relationship and then move on with your life. You'll be glad you did.

When the door of happiness closes another one is already opened for us but we continue looking to the one that's been closed on our eyes.Maybe god wants us to meet wrong people before meeting the wright one so that we can be so grateful for the gift he gives lastly.

You found a good girl, and threw it all away just coz of her religious beliefs? then you follow her across the world and propose to her... and you wonder WHY she said no !!! isn't it obvious? you broke her heart over a silly reason. i dont think you deserved anything else.

my son, meanwhile, stay relax 1st. talk to her when tension is lower later, and talk to her, if she wants to tell. meanwhile, focus on your life priorities and if she insist that both of u no outcome, respect her decision, stay as a friend and move on. best wishes.

Sorry, but sounds like she has found someone else. Just forget her, and go and find someone else. Don't waste any more time on her, 2 yrs is enough.
