What do you wish your dad had said or done that perhaps he did not do or did infrequently?

I have a sister-in-law that my husband gets so mad at but at the same time he loves her to death. She makes up the craziest crap about my brother-in-laws wife not wanting us there when they're gone in Hawaii because they would be mad about it when it doesn't make sense because they just offered us a house key to their house. I guess her mom did that and now she's doing the same things. We were thinking that she's single, no kids, and both her brothers are married with kids and shes 40 and unhappy with her life. Are we wrong to think this of her and what should we do?

My son is 8 years old and has a dead beat father that he doesn't even know exists. I married a wonderful man that he thinks is his daddy since age 2. He now has 2 younger brothers that are from my husband and I. Do I tell my son the truth that my husband is not his real dad or do I leave it alone? If I tell him, when should I do it?

I attempted suicide when i was 13. I still to this day have never told my friends, ( im 19 now) because i dont want them to treat me differently, or not want to be my friends. Im not a weak person anymore, in my eyes im a pretty strong woman, but when this happened, i was sick with depression. if i come out and tell my family that dont know ( my grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles dont know) will they look at me differently, or will they be proud that i've come so far? I want to tell them, but i just dont want to be viewed as weak or a freak, or a physco....i wanted to be treated the same...

My sister told me that our stepdad had threatned her ...... that he was going to send someone after her... which she took as a threat but not a seriously... me as the oldest out of 4 .... took that really serious that he'll send someone to beat her up...and maybe they'll kill her... i know i'm like over reacting but i really know Our step dads history and violance... even my own cousins full/blood cousins are in this kind of Cruew or like a street gang named "SIK1z"... there parents liv where we liv right now and the owner of this house is related to my step dad... they are all in his side... so we might be moving to my moms sister apartment..cause she owns her own home and in her back has to apartments for rent... like should i report this to our family theraphy emediatly or should i wait until we move... but it's really risky....

I don't understand it. A few decades ago, it was okay to spank your kids with a belt or paddle. Now, that's considered "bad parenting." For adults here, how were you raised as a child? If you were spanked with a belt or another object, why do you think adults that were raised in the same era so anti-spanking now? It appears to be a new phenomeon. How can that be so? Parents these days are too permissive. They treat their kids like puppies. They dress them up in pretty clothes, buy them lots of toys and have a little chair for them to sit in for time-out if them misbehave.

I think it's pathetic that the psychologists have jumped on the "talk it out" method with toddlers. Seriously. I want to be a psychologists, but I'm afraid to advocate spanking because I don't want my colleages to gasp in shock.
Before I get "omgz, don't beat your kids," relax. I know about the horrors of child abuse. Trust me. But I see nothing wrong with a calm spanking, even if it is with a belt

OK. Who is in the wrong? The person that does not empty their pockets before throwing their dirty clothes in the dirty clothes basket at the end of the day or the person that does not check the pockets before throwing the clothes in the washer? My husband and I bicker about this all the time!!!!

I forgot to log out of my yahoo email one day and my mom went through and read email between me and a friend of mine. I had VERY personal information in there...things that I wasn't ready to tell her. I am very angry. She said she had the right to know what is going on in her house. Did she have the right to do that?
