I am graduating soon from college, and I my parents have been divorced my entire life. I am not especially close with either of them, but moderately close to my entire extended family, including them... if that akes any sense. Neither of them have financially supported me through my education, but I know they are both proud of me and want to be there.
Given the very complicated nature of this relationship, I have decided to do what I want on my graduation day... since I deserve it. I plan on inviting them all to the ceremony, and then have one family luncheon at my favorite restaurant afterwards. I expect both sides of my family, and my close friends, to be civil for my sake.
I feel like I am making the best decision to include everyone who cares, while making sure my special day is a happy one for me... but I was hoping for advice from someone who may have been through this or parents? Actually, any advice would be great?
