we get our hopes up because this day is supposed to be one of the most romantic days out of the year, and we expect our men to live up to that. You may say no I don't but deep down we all do. Most men however see this holiday as a stupid one because they don't like being "mushy" or spending the money on things that will not last. My fiance says he sees no point in spending 50 bucks on flowers that will die in a week. Even though he is right, it's still the thought that leads to the purchase that means alot. Knowing that you were thought about and on his mind. Men do not understand this. They think a simple everyday "I love you" should cover it when we expect much more. Every woman wants to be romanced and wooed like we watch in the movies but in reality it's not likely. You cant expect your man to act like a soap opera guy if you don't act like his playboy girl. All in all it boils down to a difference between the sexes and yet another day for the stores to make more money off of someones feelings. I am personally satisfied with a simple I love you and a kiss on the cheek. If your really loved why should that only be expressed on one day a year ?

OK, here's the thing, is your husband really in love with you and an all around good guy every other day of the year? Yes, Valentine's Day is a small and sometimes silly holiday. My husband and I are getting really good sheets for our bed, instead of cute gifts. It all depends on what you want from the holiday. If you really wanted something cute or romantic then last week or two you should have said something. Some guys aren't as romantic as others. Did you offer to show up naked with beer? You need to try just as hard as he does to try and satisfy your partner.

Well, you're a *****, that might be bothering him.
Why do I say that? You complain he's not being sentimental or romantic. Because valentine's day is important. But not so important that it shouldn't be delayed if your bling isn't ready.
Yeah, its all about the love and being thoughtful. Unless my ring's not ready. Wait, I need two valentine's days then, the actual one and 'happy ring-love day'.
To answer in the general case, men whose partner's engage in out-of-the-ordinary-wild-sex with them after their expensive dinner/gift giving/handing over of cards with other people's sentiments consider valentines day to be an overpriced, but not worthless holiday.

Personally, I do not think it is a stupid holiday, I do think that the corporations and advertisers have made it much more than it needs to be. Valentines Day is a day to show that special person how much you love them and how much they mean to you. It does not mean "how much can you spend on me". I think your husband is being mean, but don't get angry at him yet, he may have a surprise in store for you (let's hope so). I hope you have gotten him something for Valentines Day, or at least a card.

My husband does not think this at all. He loves Valentines day and doing things with and for me on that day. He is such a romantic at heart and i love him for it! We will buy each other cards and go out to dinner for sure. I also want to buy him some nice cds and his radio that he wants for his truck. He is going to buy me the Joyce Meyers Bible that i want and he already has bought me a necklace:) I also bought him a pair of silky boxers with a blind fold with it lol. I can honestly say that NOT all men think it is stupid.

I think Valentine's Day is a stupid holiday. I would rather be special every day of the year than just on one silly day that has been christened for lovers by Hallmark.

I don't think it's a stupid holiday. but it's also not Christmas.
I don't think he meant it takes a lot of effort, he meant it means a lot to him and he wishes it means something to you.
If you read a lot of the problems on here, tomorrow morning sit and count your lucky stars.
Happy Valentines Day:)
