Family & Relationships - 31 January 2007

I have been with my girlfriend for 4 years now. We are very close and the thought of marriage has popped up a few times with family and ourselves. We do everything together. We live together and travel places.

The thing is, I want marrage, but not until I have traveled a bit and feel like settling down. We have been together since we were 16, but now I can travel I just want some freedom, before I tie myself down for life!

Should I suggest a short break for a few months to allow me to travel somewhere? I think I would feel alot better as soon as I have experienced things alone, and I would come back refreshed, and perhaps propose!

As much as I would like to travel with her, money, and her job is a restriction, and I feel if I had a month or 2 alone to travel, it would refresh our relationship, and the next stage could be possible.

I don't know what to do nor what to suggest to her. She may not take it too kindly and get the wrong idea... Any suggestions?

i convinced her to go on a proper date with me,,just this past Sun we had a great time there was no sex but alot of romance meaning alot of hand holding and kissing etc,,,prior to the date and on the date she asked me loads of questons such as what a relationship means to me etc,,,i told her trust, love, and honesty is the main things for me in a relationship,,,after the date we continued to text she said she had a reallly nice time and she would definatly want to get to know me more i told her the same,,,Monday she stopped texting like normal i figured something was wrong no she's telling me that she has to think about if she wants to be with me and that she wants a meaningfull relationship,,,i'm fed up don't know what to do why are things so complicated and what should i do??? shall i call and still text her or what??? and why do you think she is doing all this after she spoke so positively about us??? is she playing games??

I'm so down, my neighbors who I used to be great friends with are suddenly mad at me and harrassing me (which really hurts!); last month 4 days before Christmas I had to have my favorite cat of 14 years put to sleep because he developed an arrythmia and I miss him so much!, my daughter will be getting divorced in a couple of months and her husband is abusing her- they have twin 8-yr-olds and he is putting them in the middle, my money situation is very bad, and I'm manic right now from all of this- I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in a week (right now it's 3:41 a.m. where I am.) I am 22 yrs old. I am affraid that I am going to marry a girl just because I must. Because my parents like here, my sister likes her, and my chances with girls that I would someday like are almost zero, so..I decided to get married to this girl. Well..everythign was going good as usual and he went soft ouuta nowhere....we have been together 2 years..it hasnt happened before. I just got out of a realationship that was bad and have gotten over it.. Im not a bad person, I dress nice, I work, I keep myself up.. I dont know why I havent ran up on the right man.. Seems like when a guy approaches me he just wants a sexual realationship.. I dont want that. Im getting old and time is running out. I am hanging out with one of the hottest guys (Looks and Personality wise) I have ever met. I've known him for years and we could never be together because it wasn't the right timing. We were involved in relationships at the time. We got reunited about a month or so ago and have hungout a few times. I play very hard to get (I don't call or text him, I don't want to be desperate and PLUS everyone likes their space). Its been SO hard not to act like the typical girls that try and get his attention and chase him. I know that anything you chase in life will run away so I have had him contact me and make plans with me .. he's been chasing me and I think its working! I hate my sister and watever she used to talk wid her bf about and every thing, A-Z... I heard secretly and told everything to my mom and bro. I am not feeling sorry at all for wat I did.... Dont lecture me dat u did a wrong thin etc etc....
But the problem is that, my sister did not knew dat I told her story to my bro and sis... The relationship with my bf of a month.... It's filled with double standards. Do you agree?

Example 1: Lately he's been having some issues at his work and said he's not ready to talk about it. I respect that and told him that I'm here if he's ever ready to talkt. Meanwhile, I got sick. It's nothing major so I didn't want to worry him, as he already got some issues to worry about, and really rather not talk about it. But he was extremely upset when I told him I didn't want to talk to him about my condition. I feel that I am giving him space for his problem. Why can he give me some space for mine?

Example 2: He said he will be busy for a week around end of Feb with his work and probably will not have time to see me. I said OK and also told him that I will have time like that in April due to my work. He was extremely upset saying that he felt like I was retorting. I thought I'd share my schedule.

Things like this happens all the time between us. Am I not being reasonable?
