I am dating this guy who lives in California (I live in NJ). He is an electrician and for three weeks before I went to visit him he had no work. His boss wanted him to work the 4 days that I was there to visit him but he didn't because I was there. Now that I am back home, he claims that he has been working really hard because work started picking up again. He doesn't call me like he used to (but he calls me every night before he goes to bed) and says it's because his boss has been watching him and doesn't want him talking on the phone. I told him that if he doesn't want to be in this relationship to tell me now...he said that if he felt that way he would tell me " I'm sorry but this isn't going to work out". Before we hang up at night he says "I love you" but then I don't hear from him the entire day. Should I give him the benefit of the doubt or dump him?

We've been broken up for about 2 weeks now, today would be our 8 month anniversary if we were still together. And right now, i feel like crying, still every morning that i wake up, he's the first person i think of, and the first person i want to call. We're supposed to be friends, or whatever and it's working, but it's hard. the other day, he texted me telling me he missed me, making me think maybe something good would come of things, but nothing happened. i know we'll be together in the future, we've established that. But at this moment, every part of me wants to send something to him about today, being it's the anniversary.. but is that bad? should i be strong and let him come to me?

Theres this gurl i like in my classes. I've started sitting next 2 her and once i even gave her a teddy bear and i've been really nice 2 her without her acting diferent in any way. But in the last few days i've noticed that shes acting diferently around me even asking me if she could keep the pen she borrowed from me. My little sister always try to compete with me, and when I have something or do something better than her, she either puts me down or tries to "one up" me. And now, she's competing even more with me because I'm really skinny, have new clothes and a sexy new hairstyle that makes guys hit on me a lot, and she hates it. But, how can I fend her off/make the competitions stop? I'm 22, she's 17- I'm in college and I'm WAY too busy with school to compete with others. Also, I'm just trying to graduate from college next May (that's my focus). And, plus, I'm too old for this crap- I just want to live my life normally, have fun and not be stressed out. So, do I have to stop hanging out with her to make her stop competing with me, or what?

so, i have this guy friend. & im really comfortable around him but we're not like THAT close. we do flirt alot. and i noticed he doesnt flirt as much with other girls. and couple days ago he held my hand. at first i thought he was joking around and just flirting like he usually does but he kept holding onto it. i felt like we were going out so i was kind of confused and let go. i told my friend and she said that he defintley likes me because she said a friend just doesnt hold your hand like that and all that. but im not so sure. i dont want to think anything because i always was into him but never really liked him. so what do you think?

I have an ex bf, we stayed friends since our break up 10 months ago. He takes me out to dinner sometimes, and we usually talk almost every day. But he also tells me he doesn't want a future with me and I tell him sorry I wasn't good enough for him. To which he replies, why do you say that? Hmmm....because you don't want a future with me? And he tells me when we dated he always had fun with me, and still says he has fun whenever we go out to dinner. Anyway...the rare times I do go out, he asks who he is, how did I meet him, blah, blah, blah. I have been having this debate off and on with my best friend for 3 years now.

I think that when you are in a serious relationship, but feel like things are headed downhill, that you owe it to your partner to either end your relationship let the other person know that you are looking for other prospects BEFORE you start dating new people. Especially when you and your partner are living in the same household, which meaans you would be required to lie to them in order to keep your meetings with these other individuals under wraps.

She thinks that the other person doesn't have the right to know anything about your dating situation unless something actually comes of it, i.e., a possible serious relationship with one of the people being dated with. Again, this is in the course of a SERIOUS relationship in a state of some disrepair yet still intact.

It seems as if my mom hates my guts- she always puts me down and she doesn't want me to have a good life. I told her that I was planning togo to Europe next summer and she told me if I went, then she'd kick me out the house. However, my little sister told her that she was planning to go to Canada, and my mom said it was okay- no problem. Also, my mom hates that I'm a history major and she doesn't like the fact that I'll be studying to be a librarian instead of going into medicine, like my whole family did.
