My little sister always try to compete with me, and when I have something or do something better than her, she either puts me down or tries to "one up" me. And now, she's competing even more with me because I'm really skinny, have new clothes and a sexy new hairstyle that makes guys hit on me a lot, and she hates it. But, how can I fend her off/make the competitions stop? I'm 22, she's 17- I'm in college and I'm WAY too busy with school to compete with others. Also, I'm just trying to graduate from college next May (that's my focus). And, plus, I'm too old for this crap- I just want to live my life normally, have fun and not be stressed out. So, do I have to stop hanging out with her to make her stop competing with me, or what?

I don't want to compete with anyone, especially family members. Also, I don't want to compete with a high school kid!

Ignore her actions when she acts like this (puts you down/tries to "out-do" you). She is immature and insecure, don't let that distract you from your life - having fun and finishing uni!

You should tell her to her face how you feel - it is the only way she will realise that she is acting childish and superficial. Tell her word for word that she is immature and insecure.

Tell her she needs to stop her attention-seeking. She needs to get out there and experience life for herself rather than trying to spend all her time trying to be better than her sister. She needs to get a life, her OWN life.

If she doesn't agree with you, then just ignore her.

Good luck sister! My sil was the same way for the 13 years i was married to her brother it was damn aweful. It got so bad she claimed bankruptcy cause she couldn't pay her damn bills! think your sil has a problem called OCD. She should take her money and find a therapist and you should lock up all your stuff anf don't let her in the house! The next step is you will find your stuff starting to disapear..... Trust me one this one!

why not try to talk to her to settle this prob? talk to her nicely and explain your side and find out what is her reason why she keep competing with you, make her realize that you two might be sisters but have your own personality, have differences since you're both human maybe she's just trying to get attention from your "group of friends"! but don't stop hanging out with her not until she tell you her prob why she keep doing it!

So move out on your own and you won't have to worry about sis. She's doing this because she really looks up to you. Ignore it and smile and act like it doesn't matter, or move out. Godloveya.

love your sister. be a role model to her. you may not know it but you might be provoking her to compete with you. or maybe it is just your own perception. just be yourself and talk to her about it.
