Many people were raised to think it is a sign of weakness... mainly men. And sometimes society makes crying a sign of weakness too. On the other hand I think if you think it's weakness you have no heart and no emotion. Emotion is the ultimate form of character. If you have no emotion you have no personality - or at least it's a cold one.
I would definitely say crying is a sign of strength considering the way people think these days.

I don't think it's necessarily a sign that you're weak. Crying actually helps in some situations. I feel a lot better after a good cry. I cry from sadness and anger. Crying is better than giving up completely and taking your life. Tears are like words your heart cannot speak.

Crying is a way to show you care, or something bothers you, or something truly touched you. You can cry on all sorts of occasions, and to cry when something truley hurts you, you're just expressing the way you feel. If you're one of those people who cry excessively, however, it's a complete different story because those tears could be weak tears, as a result to being an emotional person. if you arent an emotional person though, and you so happen to cry, it's not weak, if anything its strenght because you had the heart to let it out, which in the end helps you. you dont want to leave bottled emotions.

No, It takes a great deal of strength to know when to be weak......i don't think that crying is a sign of weakness because its a sign of pouring out your emotions. Crying relieves you of stress and loosens up your emotions after doing so...when the soul is wounded, it bleeds tears.....we all have to show emotion and crying helps to let go of anger

Crying is a means of expression so by NO means it's a sign of weakness. It doesn't signify strength or weakness. It only means, you are not lying to your emotions. Whenever sad, distressed, in despair, its important to cry. By crying, the deep seated ulcer inside you finds a route for expression. You feel light, better, it improves your concentration level (it really does) and it helps clean your emotional system. Infact not only emotional system, but mental system too. Once you cry, atleast for a while, your mind stops focusing on the thing which had been making you feel worse. Just like whenever angry or frustrated, it's important to blurt it out similarly, it's important that feelings locked inside should come out through crying. Till when can you tolerate? Infact, by not crying and putting on a brave front (rather trying to do that), you are fooling yourself and everytime it's not right & possible. Therefore, it's important to pour the emotions out. Crying is a part of catharsis. I sometimes cry irrationally, for no reason. But, eventually it makes me feel a lot better and I am able to concentrate better.

Neither!! It is a sign of humanity. Nature gave us two ways of showing our emotions, laughter and crying. Society lets us laugh but not cry. Crying is not a sign of weakness just as laughter is not a sign of strength. Crying is being at peace with your emotions.

I would say it depends on the situation.
If a guy is a quivering wreck because his GF has told him he wont be going out with the lads tonight, well that's quite obvious.
The same guy crying because he has just become the father of a beautiful child, totally different.
Same guy shedding a tear over the victims of recent atrocities, I certainly wouldn't call him weak.
It takes a lot to show an emotion, that is deemed a weakness, when that is all you want to do.

It's a little of both. (But I, personally have more respect for someone who's not afraid to cry! )A sign of strength because you're not afraid to show a little weakness!
