Global Warming

I seen a program the other night called the great global warming swindle... it basically says man made global warming is an elaborate lie created by governments just to make money.
This seems a bit too good to be true but it also seems to make a lot of sense, for instance they have a lot of data showing the earth warming and cooling for millions of years.
Whats your opinion?

I'm writing a research paper on Global Warming. There are so many avenues to take with this topic. I'm thinking I want to focus more on the political aspect such as the way Congress is planning solutions to this crisis. Does anyone have any opinions or sources that will help me to educate others on this growing problem?

Sorry, but climate change is the logical term. Because, we will not just experience very warm temps, but in the winter, very cold temperatures. The program on the History Channel I watched the other day had 8 ways the earth could be dramatically changed (or destroyed). Climate Change was the last one, number one. Probably not because it was the worst, but because it is the most likely.

The earth has moved up a grand total of 1.3 degrees since 1860 when we first began recording global temperatures. Equipment then and until the 1940s was poor, recordings were infrequent and done randomly. The earth actually went down in temperture during the most industrial period of the 20th century (40s, 50s) yet went UP when our government put environmental protection in place (70s)! And none of the so-called "experts" in the field have the guts to admit that urban warming (from heaters, industry, cars, houses... ) could easily account for any changes, not "greenhouse" gases.

This whole thing smells like a scam, propagated by greedy hack scientists looking for grants, liberal politicans looking for votes and blame America first, anti-capitalism groups like Greenpeace. What a load of garbage!

I belive that there is nothing that can be done to stop the warming of the plan. this is way! " Our solar System in moving inside our Galexy, acording to Sience, Astroligist, and even the anchant Myains, on the Date Dec, 21st, 2012, Our Sun will line up with the center of our Galexy, at that time our planet will do a wable on it's axes, this will cause aolt of bad things to happen here, and could even wip out the world as we know it. Our planet warming is a sign that this time is near." I am coreous to hear everyone opinon on this and other theorys on the so called Global Warming. Thank you for taking the time to read this and to give you 2cents.

Ok, I am 22 years old and I go to college in Oklahoma. I have to drive about 1.5 miles and then back 4 days a week to campus cuz we don't have dorms and I also make 2 trips downtown a week for groceries and I drive an 80 mile round-trip to visit my parents once every 2 weeks. I live in a 1 bedroom apt that is all electric, my bill is about 70 dollars a month for December - March, about 40 for April-May and Septemebr-November and about 90 for June - August. I drive a car that gets 32 mpg. I am a vegetarian and I only have organic dairy products and no eggs. I spend about 25 dollars a week on groceries. I do buy a lot of packaged stuff though and Fruity Pebbles.

About what is my carbon footprint do you think?

I heard of a study that said the pollution required to make the nickel that goes into the making of the battery is fare worse than the energy saved by driving them. In other words hybrids pollute more than Hummers. Have all hybrid owners been dooped?

according to the dictionary, conspire means:
1. to agree together, ESPECIALLY SECRETLY, to do something reprehensible or illegal: combine for an EVIL or unlawful purpose.
i think we would agree that the above links represent evil thoughts and deeds. however, the above links establish, quite clearly, that there is no secrecy; therfore there is no conspiracy!

News.com.au Flash player interactives include one that states that CO2 and methane contribute 80% of the greenhouse effect. Any child can access an encyclopedia online that says that water contributes up to 86%. 36% as gas and the rest as cloud. Makes a big difference in modeling.
Another Flashplayer interactive by the same authors states that it has been proven that ALL global warming is caused by increases in CO2 levels. Probably and Significant contibution perhaps but proven and ALL. How could such a thing be proven? ALL requires that ANY form of natural effect must be discounted. Again just not possible.
So why would someone go to the trouble of producing such presentations and why would any sentient journalist publish them online where kids and their teacher may access them?
Remember the Great Wall of China and the rabbits adverts? Is it possible that this stuff is a joke? I doubt it somehow.
Sentient and Journalist, only an oxymoron in Australia? Aussie jokes anyone?

Have you seen any effects of global warming in your home country, in your own backyard?

For example, lack of rainfall or shorter winters?

It would help if you could tell me which country you're from, and which part of that country. Thanks!

I don't why there are so many people that still try to debate global warming. The debate is over, it is real and it's time to start figuring out what we're going to do about it then do it.

NASA ADMINISTRATOR MICHAEL GRIFFIN NOT SURE THAT GLOBAL WARMING IS A PROBLEM
So much for consensus

May 30, 2007; Washington, DC – NASA Administrator

Michael Griffin tells NPR News that while he has no doubt “a trend of global warming exists, I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with.” In an interview with Steve Inskeep airing tomorrow on NPR News’ Morning Edition, Administrator Griffin says “I guess I would ask which human beings - where and when - are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that’s a rather arrogant position for people to take.”

Doesn't look like the one's in NASA agree with each other..
