The earth has moved up a grand total of 1.3 degrees since 1860 when we first began recording global temperatures. Equipment then and until the 1940s was poor, recordings were infrequent and done randomly. The earth actually went down in temperture during the most industrial period of the 20th century (40s, 50s) yet went UP when our government put environmental protection in place (70s)! And none of the so-called "experts" in the field have the guts to admit that urban warming (from heaters, industry, cars, houses... ) could easily account for any changes, not "greenhouse" gases.

This whole thing smells like a scam, propagated by greedy hack scientists looking for grants, liberal politicans looking for votes and blame America first, anti-capitalism groups like Greenpeace. What a load of garbage!

Thank you for confirming for me once again how ill-informed, dogmatic and hostile the so-called "global waming activists" are. There is not a single study -- not one! -- that confirms or denies the reality of global warming. Have you actually rad your silly comments before posting? Most of your arguements could be used to prove the existance of the Tooth fairy or Santa Clause. The leftwing is so far gone, so lost in Bush hatred, that its opinion on any matter -- from global warming to stem cell reserach -- are irrelevent. You make me laugh.

OK, Trevor...

>>When we already had over 200 years of precise temperature measurements (HadCET - look it up).

Do we REALLY have to get into the non-interchangeable us of "accuracy" and "precision"? Claiming that HadCET has 200 years of precise temperatures is a misrepresentation (nice word for "lie".) If they were "precise", then they wouldn't have to discount pre 1878 recordings
http://hadobs.metoffice.com/hadcet/ParkerHorton_CET_IJOC_2005.pdf

Moreover, the remaining 130 years have been thoroughly reconstructed, accounting for urbanization, imprecise instrumentation, and improper measurement technique. From a scientific standpoint, this gives an "accurate" measurement with an accepted amount of uncertainty.

Nonetheless, HadCET is a program for a relatively small part of England - not a global temperature recording program. All anecdotes about British Empire temperature recording aside, the best of British temperature recording technology was used for hadCET. To somehow imply that this same level of precision was applied globally is, quite frankly, absurd.

>>Temperatures fell because induistrial processes in the mid 1900's emited huge quantities of sulphur dioxide, this built up in the atmosphere just like carbon dioixide is doing now. SO2 is a reflective molecule and prevents sunlight from reaching us, as pollution levels increased temperatures fell. No great mystery there. Temperatures began to rise again when Clean Air Acts were passed limiting SO2 and other posionous gas emissions.

This is a hypothesis. Don't pass it off as scientific fact (ie, "no mystery".) The truth of the matter is that the aerosol effect of sulfur dioxide was not completely understood at the time. To this date, you cannot simply take a "macro" measurement of SO2 levels and translate it to a given cooling effect without taking into account interaction with water vapor and clouds.

You claim that outside the US, the issue of global warming is not politicised - how then do you account for your scientifically disingenuous claims?

Your arguments are so ill conceived that you sound like a global warming skeptic.

<< The earth has moved up a grand total of 1.3 degrees since 1860 >>

Which is many times faster than it's ever warmer before - put it in context.

<< when we first began recording global temperatures. >>

When we already had over 200 years of precise temperature measurements (HadCET - look it up).

<< Equipment then and until the 1940s was poor >>

Accurate thermometers had been around for hundreds of years. The early ones such as Galileos's 1593 thermoscope weren't all that accurate.

<< recordings were infrequent and done randomly. >>

The British Empire stretched across the planet and the British Navy and Scientists took numerous recordings every day from all parts of the globe.

<< The earth actually went down in temperture during the most industrial period of the 20th century (40s, 50s) yet went UP when our government put environmental protection in place (70s)! >>

<< And none of the so-called "experts" in the field have the guts to admit that urban warming (from heaters, industry, cars, houses... ) could easily account for any changes, not "greenhouse" gases. >>

The experts won't admit it because it's been closely studied and discounted. You're referring to something called the Urban Heat Island Effect - look it up before referencing it.

<< This whole thing smells like a scam, propagated by greedy hack scientists looking for grants >>

Scientists have been studying global warming since it weas first documentd by Svante Arrhenius in 1896, do you think they got government grants back then? If scientists were greedy just about the one area they wouldn't enter is climatology, if they wanted money they'd be working is pharmacuticals, medicine, petrochemicals and the other areas that are awash with money.

<< , liberal politicans looking for votes and blame America first, anti-capitalism groups like Greenpeace. What a load of garbage! >>

Outside the US, global warming isn't a political issue. In most countries, mine included, every political party sees global warming as a serious threat, where are they going to get votes from if every party has the same aggenda?

are u people retarded? seriously? I know the earth has done this before and it will happen weather we are here or not. What u people need to understand is that we have speeded up the process. This isn't supposed to be happening yet ( so scientist predict) and I think the people out there that especially have children should be taking actions NOW. We need a place for our childrens children to live in. Earth will not be suitable becuz of us dumb humans not giving a crab. Wake up there is something you can do now. Start writing letters to NASA to sign the mars expediton. We need another planet in the future to live on. Stop driving so much. Driving as increased our greenhouse gas 40%. And of course turn off electrical crap when not using blah blah blah I think everyone know just no one chooses to do so becuz it's "inconvenient"

Anti-capitalist fools like these guys?

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives Tuesday to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming."

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

How about that idiot, Stephen Hawking? What a fool he is. And every major scientific organization:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

How did science ever get this far with all those fools doing it?

By the way, data explains clearly the warming pattern of the last 100 years:

And scientists have proven that the "urban heat island" has not affected the data:

Wow! step back and seem on the enormous photograph. Ranting and raving won't do a element. worldwide warming, capitalism, ethical decay, financial supremacy. you're nerve-racking approximately to many stuff. carry all of it the way down to a private point, the place you are able to handle it. start up at domicile. recycle, do the eco-friendly element purchase a hybrid. I for one don't have faith all the alarmist propaganda. i've got faith we are in a cycle of world warming yet we did no longer reason it. we are actually not morally decaying this too is a cycle. financial supremacy and capitalism anybody in each and every united states of america needs. so a ways as being hated, with skill comes envy. seem a sprint deeper don't have faith something you study and in straightforward terms 0.5 of what you notice.

No one is arguing that natural cycles are at play.

But how could anyone be foolish enough to ignore the body of evidence presented by reputable scientists that humans have had and are playing a significant role in accelerating the process?

It's not a scam, I'm not foolish for the most part, and if it's garbage, it's garbage substanitated by a whole lot of scientists in a variety of fields. You want certifiable proof? We don't want to let it come to that, believe me.

I believe you might have a possible cause of increased warming, and yes I believe that some scientist are probably doing this for a grant or some type of job. But I would also like to ask this. What if global warming is real? What if we are causing it? Should we do something about it? YES! And what if it is not real? What if we are not causing it? Would it hurt to cut down on pollution and diseases caused by air pollution? Remember, before we started regulating air pollution, people died because of the air pollution, but now we can breath the air. And remember when the rivers use catch on fire because of pollution? I believe we are better off now! We can swim in them and even drink the water in some places.

Oh gee, the average global temperature has only increased 1°C since 1860 and 0.6°C since 1960? Well, that doesn't sound like a lot, does it?

Except when you look back and realize that this is an incredibly fast rate of global temperature change. Stop with the paranoid conspiracy theories and try doing some research to get real answers to your questions. Even this one simple plot of a climate model answers most of your so-called evidence of global warming foolishness.

What a relief ,that means that all the people that have died so far because of Global warming had nothing to worry about ,Their ghosts will be very happy,

Have you been to Northern China ,Central Africa or Mexico lately.

there are other paces in the world besides Northern America where all the skeptics appear to live ,

So all the World government are getting bothered for Nothing ,How can they be so stupid with all of the scientific info at their fingertips

You must go on the news and tell everyone go stop them from wasting their time
HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT BELIEVE ,
THAT IS WHAT IS UNBELIEVEBLE

What about desertification due to deforrestation ,but speeded up by unusual hot Suns.
Water shortage .Rising seas
Croploss due to temperature changes ,
Heat and cold weaves that are killing people .
Flasfloods .

Mass exstinction of Flora and fauna ,many animals are becoming sick because of SMALL changes in temperature .
Insects are affected and some are going out of control such as the parasites that are killing the bees.
Vital links in the food chains are disapearing affecting other species further along in the chain.
We are witness to a mass exstinction ,for the first time since the dinosaurs, of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.
Everything is happening so fast it is not possible to monitor things any more.
------------------------------...
just for fun i asked a question in polls and surveys and again in religion
who thought Global warming was a lie ,and who was religious .

granted many people who believed in God and also believed in climate change .

but
the fact emerged that ALL of the people who denied Global warming ,who said it was a hoax ,were without any exceptions ,religious

FACT OR FICTION
many People are used to fiction and they feel more comfortable with fairytales instead of the truth.

Many blindly believe that our fate is in Gods hands ,and their focus is on the beautifull heaven.
------------------------------...
World leaders are not too concerned with the well being of the masses ,on the contrary .it was stated at a conference in Copenhagen,in 1998,by an American statesman , that the Agenda demanded a decrease in the world population of 60%,and you cannot achieve this if you start saving everybody.

Scientists who get paid by politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change .

Change effects many peoples incomes, and upsets profit margins,so most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.for political and economic reasons .
------------------------------...
HOWEVER CLIMATE CHANGE IS FACT FOR MILLIONS
Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

This text only covers some aspects of global warming mainly man made desertification
Industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities ,is another story

There are natural cycles in the planets life
but mans existance has its effects, and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms.

In North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result.

In china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms, that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert.

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and many of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were very few desserts.

Collectively this planet´s arable lands are drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

Each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

There is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..

Each year 70 million more people have to eat and drink and wash

Farmers are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary , over grazing, overpumping deep carbon aquifiers.

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
This does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.

The melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

http://www.greenpeace.org/international/...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/natur...

if forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts, what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us.

We as humanity can behave in a less stressful manner as far as the Environment is concerned ,but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen.

this is a subject that needs to be watched because little by little we are doing great harm to our earths atmosphere.somewhere down the line there will be catostrophic floods due to the widespread melting of the polar ice caps,if something isnt done right away we will be in big trouble,so do your part and keep our enviroment clean and free of garbage and litter.
