The problem is that the term "global warming" has become politicized. I would suggest to actually ask what you are looking for using different wording.
I.E. Is the planet heating up? Or, Is the heating trend the earth is experiencing due to human waste?
The only reason I suggest this is because there are many people who acknowledge that the earth is heating, but don't agree that this significantly more than a natural cycle of the planet.
It'll keep your data free from false reporting of a badly used phrase.
I would like to know the absolute source for accurate temperatures for the past 60k years.
The storm intensities link is currently being debunked with a study that shows hurricanes that have struck the south eastern parts of the country were actually stronger several hundred years ago than what we have seen in the past couple of hundred years.
The only caveats I would have to those who are reading some of the information is that there is no accurate data on temperatures prior to the 1800's. No matter what you hear, this is conjecture, but they base many findings on very, very flimsy temp models using this conjecture.
The reason I'm not in favor of much of the "scientific" information out there is that they dismiss humans as a carbon pump, although they do count livestock. 6 billion people have no effect on the airborne carbon count? Using information below, our population has more than doubled since 1958.
Also, read the detractors and other findings, that way you can decide for yourself and compare the information.
Also be shy of any site that claims it has all the information and that everything it claims is 100% true. The current state of the understanding of the climate and how it works is still very young and it is theories. Not facts, do not confuse the 2.

It´s true period ......................

by now there are thousands of answers to exactly this question
when you type the question the links appear ,

the same question even appears several times on the same page .And now people are attacking us for saying the same things over and over again ,but then so are the questions.

that it is real is not an issue any more ,even skeptics agree that is exists

Go see the desserts in Mexico,Asia ,and Africa
check how many thousands of people have already died related to global warming
check the low lands that are already flooded
the North pole is melting
Green land is getting green again.
the south pole has lost ice arms that had names ,they had been there for so long .
Animals and insects are dying because of small changes in temperatures ,

The arguments are about how serious it is,who is responsible , can we do anything about it
or will it just go away again.

And people will be arguing about that untill they go up in flames

read Trevor ,or Bobs ,Grizzlbr, and many others on the scientific details ,
there is enough writen about this already to keep you reading for a several months

As a scientist, I guess I'll put in my two cents and be a devil's advocate on both sides of the issue as I often do. Any and all claims aside, I did my own study on global warming and came up with the following conclusions. I looked at carbon data collected in Hawaii from 1958 until 2006 and plotted the data year by year on a graph. Then, I took a random sample of temperatures from 1958 to 2006 and found a direct correlation between the amount of carbon in the air and a direct rise in temperature.

But wait! We've had three major ice ages in the past 60,000 years, so global warming is cyclic only and we have nothing to do with it, right? Wrong! Plot a line showing temperatures over the past 60,000 years, then plot a continuing line showing the past 40 years of temperatures. What's happening? The temperatures are shooting sky high in the past 40 years as compared to the past 60,000. Sometimes I think I ought to put all of that raw data on a website complete with references to back up my data. Yes, global warming is true and the average temperature in Lake Superior has gone up by four degrees farenheit. Okay, like I said, my two cents.

Yes,it's true, in my science biological knowledge I believe that there is a huge stone moving round the Earth and if we kept using air cons, the CFC will rise into the atmosphere and destroy the ozone layer which also causes global warming.

True, because of massive amounts of peer reviewed scientific data and the vast majority of the scientific community, against a few skeptics with theories that the data says are flat wrong.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me.

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

It's (mostly) not the sun:

Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/ATG/polywater.html

There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just four examples of many:

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives Tuesday to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona

“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."

Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Yes it is, just look at the weird weather! The ice caps are in trouble and polar bears are dying. And even if the scientist are wrong, which I highly doubt, then why would it hurt to help save the planet by using alternatives, and not being so greedy. Greed is killing the world, because people just want to do things the cheap easy way, like putting weed killer on things instead of pulling them, or buying inorganic things instead of organic ones. I understand you can't always afford it, but you can at least be responsible when using bad choices. You are stupid and don't want to admit you play apart in hurting the world. It is also cause by overpopulation. Just admit and use greener things.

Fiji water level is rising.
Australia, drought
El Nino very active
Hurricanes very active, more intense
Glaciers all over, melting after 200 years of human observation.
Ross Ice Shelf, breaking off and drifting more each year.
Tree lines , receding
Something is definitely occurring, call it whatever you want.
Tidal Flats are changing
This is stuff I have noticed and I ain't a ecologist or a geologist.
Just a sailor that likes to sail in little boats and have fun.
38 years sailing, I notice stuff.

Global warming is real, true! It happens because we do not take care of Mother Nature the way we should!

2007-06-11 22:09:14 · answer #8 · answered by swanjarvi 7 · 1 0

True.

Do you really think that the 766 tons of CO2 that we release into the atmosphere a second really doesn't have an effect?

We've seen before that CO2 rises together with temperature. Or, for this case, temperature rises together with CO2. The climate is heating up because of us!

Global Warming is true,
because people are using plastic,
and because of it the earth is getting polluted,
the ozone layer is getting smaller and smaller,
we should paper bags instead of plastic,

This is what I wanted to say
