What he says, what he thinks and what he does are three very different things.

After many years of denying it he now says it's a very real threat but at the same time I get the impression he thinks it's not something he should concern himself with. To this end he has done very little to address the isuse and was the 'odd one out' at the recent G8 summit. Whilst the other leaders wanted action to be taken now, Bush adopted a stance of taking action later rather than sooner. Perhaps this is because he can't stand for President for a third term and knows he'll be out of office within 18 months. In other words - let someone else deal with it.

When Bush was running for president in 2000 he supported caps on CO2 emissions.
After he was elected, Bush claimed that there was no proof global warming existed. Then he hired an oil company lobbyist and gave him the power to censor government studies that concluded global warming is real
Now Bush says global warming is real, but we don't need to actually do anything (like cappingCO2 emissions) to deal with it.

If the situation wern't so serious, this would be funny!

From being an oil man I doubt he's so concerned about it effecting him personally in his lifetime. He's more concerned with protecting the continuing flow of oil out of the Persian gulf. Saying that we are addicted to oil only admits we can't change it.Anything else is just to pacify the public relations. I think there are very few righteous "born again" oil men around.

Bush may be lots of things, but his personal actions speak to an interest in cutting energy consumptiona and making his personal home more sensible. More on the Bush House:

On the other hand, his foil, Al Gore, seems to talk the talk but not walk the walk. More on the Gore house:

Personally, I tend to think people's actions tell more than their words. So Bush must have some interest in the environment.
