Can anyone explain why non climatologists (cite the paers if you disagree) in the 70s incorrectly predicting global cooling, implies that climatologists in the 90s predicting global warming are wrong.

Please explain, I find it very confusing.

A mako shark, over 800 pounds was caught of the coast of the Florida panhandle. The shark was strung up and put on display as a record breaking catch. With the natural balance of our oceans in such a precarious state, I am disgusted and dismayed that this apex preditor was not caught and released. Is anyone else disturbed by this?

If we observe the current trends worldwide it looks that if we dodnt follow any drastic measures than it would be too late and finally there will be catastrophe worldwide.

There's a lot of talk about ethanol from corn and biodiesel from palm and other oils, but what about trees? They're full of cellulose and lignin and there's a lot of them used in paper making and so on, so there must be some waste left that might be useful. Or mabye we should just heat them up and use the gas that comes off when we do? What do you think?

Hey, I have a Sport Berkey and I'm not quite sure about maintenance and cleaning. The official brochure doesn't give much information. What do you do about the straw tip? I know that'll get gross after a while. Does the inside of the container ever get "slimy"? How long can I leave it filled up with water just sitting in it? Will the plastic from the container ever leach into the water and if it does can that get filtered out too?

Does anyone see that when you puff up your case, you lose credibility? Does anyone understand that that's a character flaw? That's what Al Gore did in An Inconvenient Truth, whether he's accurate about global warming, or not.

Personally, I think he's wrong, so have at me, environmentalists.

Well hello! i'm trying to do my bit when it comes to global warming and i was looking for an article to post in my myspace blog. I was thinking of something simple such as '20 ways to reduce global warming'. Unfortunately although i'm passionate about the issue i'm not 100% clued up so i was hoping for a bit of help. So if there is anybody out there with some nifty writing skills and good knowledge in the area who'd like to write me one or if anybody knows where i can find one that would be great. I've tried google but nothing really appeals it's all a bit bland i was looking for something that will really get people ineterested and possibly entertaining. I know the whole issue isn't exactly comical but it seems like nobody wants to know so maybe it would be worth a try? ThankingYouu :)

I've been saving my used batteries (before going rechargeable) and have been trying to find a local place to take them for recycling. (None of my usual local recycle places take them). I've been looking online for the answer to this question and stumbled upon a webpage for South Carolina that instructs me to just throw them out with my household garbage... this doesn't seem right, as at least the metal of the battery could be recycled.

I've observed South Carolina as being a wee bit behind the times in other arenas, and suspect this may be the case with my battery recycling issue. Here's the link that told me to just throw the batteries away: http://www.chasdoc.org/2006/documents/RECYCLING.pdf

What should I do?

Ok i understand if you recycle paper it will stop more trees being cut down and this can help save our planet. but plastic bags, bottles etc, and glass bottles etc, these have to be melted down to make more plastic and glass products.
So what about the power and energy used on the machines that have to melt these bags and bottles, Then what about the fumes form the plastic and glass being melted going into the atmosphere this will cause global warming not prevent it.
If you don't recycle properly you will get a heavy fine from the councils, then you have to pay for extra bins to recycle properly
so you wont get fined.
So is recycling just another government conspiracy to take more money off people.
or is this just another load of rubbish which i heard in the pub on saturday
