Will deniers continue to deny it was ever a problem to begin with?........just like the ozone hole - they still claim ozone depletion was a "natural cycle".

1. if there wasn't global warming we would still have a problem, global cooling. so instead of getting record high temperatures...we'll be getting record low temperatures. and some sports and other activities will not be able to play.
2. you cannot prevent global warming. what mother nature wants is what she will do.
3.yes, people are part of the problem, but mother nature is way ahead of us.global warming started way back in the 1800's
4. yes, people can slow down global warming to get into the ice age if we use smaller cars and not the big SUV's
5. politicians are scaring and alerting people , they are also making billions of dollars doing that.
6. the rich and famous people are using more energy and electricity(jets, limos, big house=more electricity used) than middle and lower class people....
7. give your opinions ^.^ and not stupid ones

According to the World Resources Institute, livestock and manure only account for 5.1% of worldwide anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.

http://cait.wri.org/figures.php?page=World-FlowChart&view=100

But according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, when land use is taken into account, livestock accounts for 9% of our CO2 emissions, 65% of nitrous oxide, 37% of methane, and thus 18% of our overall CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas emissions.

http://www.fao.org/newsroom/en/news/2006/1000448/index.html

I'm wondering why these figures are so different. Anyone know the source of the discrepancy, and which is more accurate?

my room mate who is an utter moron
thinks he's an electrician but his ignorance precedes him

so, I have to pay the electric bill and i'm trying to avoid wasting energy
he always has these things going
1) a portable dvd player with a battery he never uses
now am i correct to assume that once the battery is charged it will just keep sucking in energy anyway
2)a camera battery that he also never uses but once it is charged hence the green light, why does it need to be plugged in when he's not even gonna use his camera for months?
3)i heard cell phone chargers will eat up energy to which to me makes sense since it's just a plug with no on/off
4)his pc monitor is always on

there's a ton of other things but those things on a daily basis i unplug

is any of this eating up significant energy?
anybody know any sites?
i need confirmation that these things(rarely used) do indeed waste energy

because the dude is stuborn and just thinks he's always right

I know it's here because it looked me in the eye last night! What do I do?? I haven't seen it today, but I know it's probably sleeping somewhere. Is it possible that the bat could have found the same spot where it got in and just let himself out again? This seems so unlikely, but like I say, I haven't seen him since last night.

I don't know if this will help, but we've got a 2-story 1930 home and the attic is finished. There's a vent in the little space above the finished attic, and now that I look, there's a tiny, tiny crack between the ceiling drywall and the chimney. I'd say it's about 1/2 inch wide. Could a bat fit in there??

(My husb. caught him, but he got away before they were outside.)

Irrigated the deserts for crops and cities and put levees around flood plains. Do you think this has any bearing on climate change?

They tell you that you are sinning (emitting CO2), and the end of the world is near. That you should stop sinning and send them money to help "spread The Word". Yet they fly around in private jets and have huge power hungry homes like Al Gore and Barbara Streisand. (Does anyone remeber Jimmy Swaggert's night with the hookers?)

They spread fear of the end of the world so they can get money to keep spreading the word and "doing something about it". They spread so much fear that taxpayers willingly let their governments spend money on dubious science.

Televangelists, like global warming types demonize anyone who does not agree with them. They say that money for opponents comes from evil oil corporations (as if that was any worse than money earned from scaremongering and damning all to hell)

......on Al Gore?

Al Gore did not discover GW. The concept was around long before be started speaking out on it. Yet often, people who don't believe in GW often debate the issue ONLY using personal attacks on Al Gore. Now, before I get flamed too hard, I will state that SOME people who don't beleive in GW do spend some time researching their position and come up with generally reasonable questions and answers. But there seems to be some contingent who just can't separate the man from the issue. Why do you think this is?

Hi,
I design and install small power stations in remote parts of Afica & the Mid-East, to power up local water pumps, housing. ait-cons, shops and dear knows what, to improve the lives of a community.
Some have said wind - there isn'r any. some have said solar, but I would need an array the size of Wales, complete with vast banks of truck batteries and a static invertor the cost of which would not be feasible.
So I bung in huge deisel powered jobs.
They work a treat, many a megawatt on-line, job a good'un'
But they can belch forth a bit of smoke.
Am I justified ?
