As usual, I agree with PETA on the big general idea, but not on the specifics or methods.
Meat production is a huge contributor to global and local pollution, both in greenhouse gasses, as well as ground water contamination. The impact does differ depending on the type of meat, but all of them are problematic in some way. However, I haven't seen one study that says that meat production is the #1 cause of global warming. It's up there, but I believe industry and factories still top the list. But in order to make real impacts we do need to address all of the causes of global pollution, so meat needs to be looked at. The ignoring of meat production in the "inconvienent truth" is just as sign of the society in which we live.
As for their methods, what they are doing is just assesenine. They want to show that meat produces greenhouse gasses, so they go around producing unnecessary greenhouse gasses? Does that mean in order to show that the war is bad, anto war protesters should kill soldiers at peace rallys? Will PETA start slaughtering animals at demonstrations to show how cruel it is? Again, it just goes to show where their priorities lie. For them, global warming is just a tool to use to convince people not to eat meat.

It suits completely into PETA's straight forward philosophy: one million) distorting the data 2) get a brilliant form of interest 3) alienate actually all of us that must be in the slightest degree sympathetic 4) harm the the very reasons you prefer to help at the beginning ingesting animals isn't the variety one reason for worldwide warming. that's petroleum use. Who do you think of is a lot greater in all probability to fund the FDA to make optimistic that decide for standards do exist are enforced, Al Gore or George Bush? definite, there are some republican vegetarians. yet once you're attempting to recruit new vegans on the grounds of animal rights which team do you think of is a lot greater in all probability to be sympathetic, the Gore/Dean wing of the democratic occasion or the Bush wing of the republican occasion. No flesh presser (different than a represetative in a very very liberal district e.g. Berkley, CA) is going to publicly ever help PETA's schedule of banning all meat interior america of a. yet Al Gore could be lots greater vulnerable in place of work to help regulations that require greater humane scientific care. PETA as quickly as returned proves they're nuts.

ROTFLMAO! (That's rolling on the floor laughing my *** off for those who don't know that acronym)
I'd like to sign both PETA & Al Gore up for a match on the WWF (World Wrestling Federation). Al and the big chicken can duke it out to claim the WTBH belt. (That would be the Who's The Biggest Hypocrite belt)
Both PETA & Al Gore are in it for the money....at least let the WWF in on some of the money action!

As wacki as PETA is I have respect for their integrity and well meaning. Algore is a poser.
Harhar ,5 and Jello are on a roll LOL
"At least they practice what they preach and don't go around buying steak offsets or some crazy crap like that."
"Daddy, what do you do for work?
Well Son, I dress up like a big chicken and follow a guy around in a Hummer.
Daddy, who the hell pays you to do something like this? Why aren't you out earning some money so I can go to college, move out of this trailer, or take a bath! "

Until A* ***e starts livin right, he deserves to be followed around by a big chicken LMAO.
Obvouisly PETA has manipulated some data on this one though. They must be comparing it to individual fossil fuel sectors and not fossil fuel combustion as a whole. I'm sure they are counting everything and rounding up - transportation, deforestation, maybe even indirect emissions.

A man dressed up like a chicken following Algore around in a Hummer? And this is to do what? Do the peta people have a life to go to or is this it?
I can just imaging this conservation:

To be blunt, I think it's stupid and poorly thought out like most of PETA's messages.
Chickens are not ruminant animals, therefore they don't contribute to global warming. To say "eating animals is the #1 cause of global warming" is inaccurate by not specifying ruminant animal meat. While there are certainly issues with chicken farms, global warming is not one of them. Plus driving a Hummer around for the purpose of proving this incorrect point is just completely irresponsible.

Peta is a little extreme for me. Their message is good, but they are a bunch of worthless hippies. i don't eat meat, but it is for personal reasons...not because some jack-a$$ peta-f*ck decided it was wrong...
Besides...there are lots of extreme ways to reduce global warming...Number 1? STOP HAVING CHILDREN. I promise you that having children is far worse for the environment than driving a hummer or eating meat.
